Because 99.9% of children won't have the body structure and physical abilities to play professional sports, meaning that reading is more beneficial in the long term.
Doesn't the NBA and every other league require players to make these sorts of appearances to approve their brand? NBA, WE CARE.
While I'm sure we can all agree on the inherent evils of encouraging reading amongst children, keep in mind that we will have to recruit our future Daryl Moreys as well as our future Hardens. Without his pudginess, would he still be able to crunch numbers effectively?
