Didn't be need temporary dialysis? That figure is barely going to cover just his increased risk for long term health issues as a result of this episode.

    DEA getting off easy, IMO.

In this situation, it would have prevented him going 5 days - there were agents walking by his cell, but ignoring his pleas, because they weren't involved with his case.

I don't think anyone is allowed to own children, be they bare, fully clothed, or in any intermediate state of undress.

    Were there?

Didn't read that anywhere at the time of the story. I highly doubt the DEA assigns single agents to single prisoners... there's got to be some sort of guard on duty.

Even still, they can check on him... so they can ignore his pleas to his face instead of behind closed doors? Obviously they ignored him when he was begging for food/water behind closed doors.

Its more likely they completely forgot anybody was in the temporary cell to begin with.

OP article "Chong said he could hear DEA employees and people in neighboring cells. He screamed to let them know he was there, but no one replied. He kicked the door, but no one came to get him."

And in the interview, he mentions other detainees were getting annoyed by him and telling him to shut up.

Agreed... and none of the other inmates went without food and water for 5 straight days either.

That sounds like a simple "nobody is assigned to that cell so no need to open the door."

No real other logical explanation as to why he wasn't at least fed.... and you can check on each inmate everyday all you want... you still have to know the inmate exists.

I just showed that there was no way they didn't know he was in there - they just didn't care, because they presumably thought he was someone else's problem. If he could hear the agents, and we know the other inmates could hear him. They knew he was there.

Hence the law that you says they have to check on his well being. - Which would have changed the outcome or had more heads roll.

I just cant fathom that they actually had a system where they purposely didn't check on people in cells. And just because inmates could apparently hear him, doesn't mean the agents knew where the noise was coming from.

Also, how exactly do they feed these guys? Don't they go door to door? Why didn't the food passer-outer stop at his door? Does the agent who handles the case feed them directly?

I guess its never going to be fully explained how this break down actually happened because the truth is likely worse than anything we could possibly imagine.
