Obviously the lawyer has his own motive. This is why I said "FWIW" this is what the lawyer has to say. It is just one side of the story. May be false. We will have to see if more evidence comes out.

You are wrong. Everyone here did not know what happened except by the account of the police officer. That is the only reference we can go by at this point if we want to render any opinion. My opinion can change if more evidence surfaces. But right now, either he is at least a stupid drunk or a person with serious character fault.

Totally agree with your comment. It would really be a disgrace though if the police officer is purposefully making this up.

It's 2 a.m. Jones was coming out of a bar with a group of people. We don't know what exactly can be seen from the officer's point of view and, specifically, whether the officer was in position to clearly judge how forceful the contact is made by Jones.

Damm bums, always in the wrong places at the wrong times. Maybe it was one of his old high school buddies? I think he was crushing his beer cans for him and accidentally hit his leg.

Police officer: "Hey look there is a 6'9" and 250 lb man in a group of 7 other people. I think I am going to make up a story that he stomped on the foot of a sleeping homeless man."

Sure... Very likely the policeman just completely fabricated the whole story with 7 other witnesses.

Jones' best bet is if there is more to the story.

Not surprisingly, people are already jumping to conclusions.

Were the men sleeping in the doorway of a building he was trying to enter? Did he live there? How often did those homeless people sleep/hand around there? If he weren't black would it have been perceived as violent an action? Is the media's impression fair or are they going for page hits? Who was the officer?

I'm not white knighting here, just wary. One thing you learn from the internet is whenever a dramatic story is presented from one side usually what follows is the less sensational reality.

What does money have to do with it? The act is just as wrong. Sorry.

Riley Cooper is stealing some heat from Terence Jones' "I'm gonna stomp every homeless man in this city."
