Problem is, Pac and Big died and then their deaths propelled them to be even bigger icons than they were in life. I believe if they would have lived they wouldn't be considered as great as they are now. I do agree that Jay-Z is overrated. He's not even close to Eminem in my opinion.

Missy Elliot and Easy E before Jay-Z and Kanye?

Meh, personally I wouldn't do it. I don't like rating folks but if there were tiers for all time rappers I'd put Kanye WAY up there. Not many has had the impact on rap the way he has, not even Jay-Z.

I also think there have been many great rappers since Tupac and Biggie.

Outkast, Kanye, Jay-Z, Nas, Wu-Tang, Eminem, Common, Lauren Hill...it's not like rap died when those two did.

maybe the hangout should just stay in its lane and stick to talkin about bangin escorts, funny gifs, and girl advice..

you know rakim, i have no problems with anyone saying this, but folks show their age. dude was a pioneer, was widely considered "your favortie rappers favorite rapper."

lauryn hill??? lauryn had some flow, shes extremely poetic but lets not act like she belongs here or has classic material, rhyming, that is comparable to jays catalog.. cmonson.jpg

eazy-e lol this guy didnt even write his own shxt..

    missy elliot??.... FOH

    your post was a joke...

To me at least, rap and hip hop died when 2pac and Biggie died.

    oh i for got RZA..

again cmonson.jpg.. legendary contributer to hip-hop music. at far as rhyming goes, hes in the u-god, masta killah side of wu, not in the rae, ghost, deck, meth side..

Your post is a joke for offering no one. Come on son is right.

    isnt that what rapping is?

Lauryn hill is the shi**t and on its own you suck for even trying to try to say anything negative about her rapping.

    come on son is right.

so you have to write you own lyrics to be good at rapping? come on son is right.

Eazy e was a freaking legend. How old are you? Are you f-ing kidding me to dog on eazy? the boyz in the hood alone was transcendent and his voice extremely unique. opinion is one thing but geez.

missy elliot can flow. She was a name I just thought of off top of head and perhaps my weakest on list ,but still I am disappointed in you josephnicks even though I don't know you.

    come on son is right..

opinions are like assholes but to put jay z or kanye in the same crowd as lauryn or tupac is borderline criminal.

Theres actually a laundry list of better talents from dre to old dirty b*stard to insert about 10 to 20 other names before jayz. Im okay with kanye around maybe 10th or 11th place and jayz would be lucky to crack top 25. I mean its not even close.

If I cared more I could put a list of better rappers.. but your opinions on lauryn hill invalidate anything else you said before or after. more like

how old are you? or were you out of the country from 87 - 91?

Anyone that was over 13 at time of eazy e would agree or at least put eazy e in the conversation.

Just because you didnt see jabbar play doesnt mean he wasnt great.

fwiw I like you shaud and your posts but I am personally *almost* hurt by your hating on eazy e.

The problem with Jay Z is he raps too much about himself and how great he is.

Tupac raps about the struggles in life:

    From "So Many Tears"

Does Jay have anything this real or deep?

"How much of Biggie's rhymes is gonna come out your fat lips?"
    :)

I'd take any body in the Wu over Jay z. He's a nice story of the american dream but that's about it.

Apparently you have never heard of Reasonable Doubt, Blueprint, or the Black Album.

Plenty of real and deep songs on those. I can't even believe we are having this discussion did some of you just start listening to Jay?

Pac was actually from Baltimore but never repped it.

Went to Juliard (sp?) and that's where he met Jada Pinkett before she became Smith.

They had a thing.... so I'm sure Pac would have had Beyonce by now AND passed her off to the homies.

    THUG LYYYYYFE! **Danny McBride voice**

Dear Mama was deep, even mentioning his mother's crack addition in the lyrics.

He tackles teenage pregnancy in "Brenda's got a baby".

What about "To my unborn child"? (With a great sample of Liberian Girl on the loop)
You can't get deeper than that dude. That's just real.

    Song Cry.

    Politics As Usual.

    Takeover. (Nas diss)

    Moment Of Clarity.

    Dead Presidents II (Ultra Classic)

    My 1st Song.

    22 Two's.

    Never Change.

    Public Service Announcement.

    Renegade. (feat. Eminem)

All the songs listed above should be some that you guys add to your playlist and jam out too.

This guy produce(d)s classics but IMO still has nothing on 2Pac.
