We dont know this for certain. Hoes could go to AAA and Springer called. We will just have to see.

Luhnow already said Springer will be called up at some point soon

And it's not like we don't have room for two OF's if they are ready to play at a major league level.

I just wish we could get rid of some of the clutter. Barnes, Grossman, Krauss, Carter all in OF with Carter/Wallace both true 1B. Wish we could have traded Wallace for scraps.

Last thing he said is that he'd likely be up some time in September, when the rosters expand... I hadn't heard anything else, but presumed he'd be up after the deadline if we could get some people off the 40 man roster to add him.

If we have to add Hoes instead, then its not a for sure thing.

I love the kneejerk, "Never heard of 'em; therefore: NO GOOD!" reaction. It's like the NFL Draft; a bunch of know-nothing armchair GMs....

Isn't the comp pick following the Rd.1?

If so I think this is a pretty great return for an average at best starting pitcher.

Hoes was listed as the #6 prospect in the O's system by Baseball America.
I don't know where Hader is on their list but judging from this thread it should be higher

Carter, having settled in the DH isnt a OF logjammer anymore.

Barnes, I feel is a keeper for now.

Grossman & Krauss, we can do better certainly.

How much more money does the comp round pick add to our bonus pool?

Yes, Carter long term is 1b/dh only, so let's put him there and leave him there. I think Barnes could be a good 4th OF on a good team, but i'd love to see Springer and Hoes as everyday OF's moving forward, and let Barnes take most of the 3rd spot at least until JD is back

I think the draft pick is the biggest asset in this deal. We will have 3 of the first 50 picks next draft. Luhnow trollin'

I'm not sure how the rules work, but Hoes was on the Baltimore 40 man so he might have to go on ours. Either way, i'm sure Hoes becomes an everyday OF right away. Moving Maxwell and Bud today though, seems we still have another 40 man spot open, so as long as whatever pitcher replaces Bud on the 25 man is already on the 40, there is room for Springer?

So Hader probably slots into the Astros system anywhere from 8-12. Hoes 17-20?

Hoes may not have power or speed, but he has an excellent OBP and takes more walks than strikeouts. We desperately needed some LHP in the minors as well so Hader fills that need.

    Solid and fair trade imo.
