I'd like to see a Norris move made but I understand that keeping him until he offseason might be best for us.

I find the tweet from Marc Hulet to be interesting. I think they can and I'm an Astros fan.

This. Our leverage is reduced by the fact that 1) we held him out of the game last night and 2) the public comments he's made around playing in SF or for a contender. Now we're in a position where he expects to be traded, and if he doesn't, he could be let down and it would get awkward between him and the Astros. Other teams know this, so it will be balanced with their own desperation for a decent back of the rotation starter.

Gausman would be cool. Bundy is untouchable methinks.

Eh, if he's not traded then he needs to suck it up and be a professional. If he can't do that, then all the media pundits who claim that he wouldn't be able to handle the pressure of a pennant race or playoff game are more right than wrong.

We don't have to trade him. He's not going to be a free agent... That's about the only scenario that reduces "leverage."

Either teams want him and are willing to give Luhnow what he wants, or we keep him and try this again next year.

I don't think we have lost any leverage, but even if you are right about that, if Luhnow doesn't get what he wants I think we will keep him. Yes, he did make some comments about pitching for a contender, but he has also always seemed fine with staying an Astro. Heck, go back a week and when we won the Cosart start in the 9th inning he was the first one rushing out of the dugout in excitement. To me this isn't an Oswalt deal where a guy was trying to beg his way out and was mouthing off about the direction of the team, I think Bud will be just fine if he is here tomorrow.

Or we keep him, Cosart shows to be a legit starter next year, Appel is up and throwing like a #1 overall draft pick, Singleton and Springer join Villar, Castro, Altuve, Carter on an offense that surprises, and Bud helps as a veteran starter on a team that appears headed in the right direction.

I think he just wants it to be over, but staying really means 2-3 months of security.

I'd still trade him. He's worth more in potential prospects than he is as a "veteran" with increased arbitration salary for production that has likely already peaked.

I love how teams are supposedly just announcing that "prices are too high" via the media. As if this has any impact on how a smart/calculating GM is going to go about his demands.

Bedard is now listed as starter tonight. Bud was originally only moved back a day. More evidence that he'll move today?

The team is on track to lose 100+ games, and not be in the playoffs next year if Norris stays. They care less than zero about his feelings if he doesn't get traded.

Didn't they say yesterday that Bud had just been pushed back to pitch on Wednesday? If so, scratched again.

I was wondering why they didn't just move Norris to Thursday in the first place. And Bedard to Friday, for that matter (what ever happened to moving him?).
