There is no way in hell that this would ever, EVER happen.
(When pigs learn to fly) x (Hell freezes over) = this trade

I don't know if you are serious or just trolling, but I will assume you are simply naive. In principle, trading a couple of proven guys for a shot at a star is OK, BUT there are so many reasons this scenario is absurd.

    1) There is no way to know who will have the #1 pick at this point, or the #2 or #3. You could realistically aim for top 5 - 10. That's about it.

    2) You could trade with a team that you think may have a shot at sucking, but do they have cap room to absorb your contracts? Do you want their garbage in return if not?

    3) If Wiggins is the next LBJ, do you honestly think anything we have short of Harden or Howard gets that done?

    4) The Rockets are in win now mode. After waiting a year to draft their player, how long until he contributes like the superstar you envision. Another year, three maybe? Howard, remember, has an opt out in three years.

Also, please — whether English is your first language or not — PLEASE spell the names of our players correctly. You can look at a roster and carefully copy the spelling over and over until it is ingrained in your cranium.
    There is no PARSON.

Parsons + Beverly + our 2014 1st + 2-3 future 2nd round picks may allow us to move into the lottery this year. But a fan base will revolt if you pass up on a homegrown(drafted) franchise player.

No team wants Jeremy Lin unless they need to absorb him to get multiple assets and if you have the #1 pick, why absorb Lin and lose Wiggins?

    That's how you get fired.

Maybe the Rockets should just tank and get Wiggins in the draft.

    to the OP

it would never happen and would not turn out like you think or hope it would. let's say we got parker or wiggins. you really think mchale is going take touches away from harden and dwight to develop a 3rd star? we're built (or being built) to win now. i'll take 2 superstars dominating and some good role players and bench over 2 superstars sacrificing for a "potential" 3rd.

i'm of firm belief that kevin durant would not be the player he is today had portland drafted him instead of greg oden. well i take that back. it would have taken him longer to get where he's at today. he would have been on a team with aldridge and brandon roy in his prime.

instead he went to seattle which had nobody and he became a stud.

You know that Andrew Wiggins is expected to be another generational player, right? And the forecasted 2nd pick Jabari Parker is being compared to Carmelo Anthony and is truly capable of being a franchise cornerstone as well.

Would you trade a young Kobe, Lebron, Durant for a package of Lin & Parsons? Hmm tough choice.

Lin is worth way more than Wiggins, you're crazy. The team with the #1 pick would have to also ship us their best player.

Given how many teams are tanking, or will be, whoever wins the lotto will likely be at least 3 years away from being any good. On top of that, whoever they traded for Wiggins, will be better than Wiggins for at least the first 2-3 years of his career, so subsequent draft picks would be worse (see even as good as Durant was, Sea/Okc still sucked the first two years).

As such there is no plausible deal that could come close to replacing the potential of at least 9 years (~6-7 good years) of Wiggins, not even Durant or Lebron could get that done.

wiggins is a really talented baller, but same as all rookies, they all come at a risk... will they turnout to be a durant? a lebron? or a marbury, kwame brown... the injury risk, work ethic is very hard to gauge at that level... what if he gets injured pre-draft like noel? so trading lin and parsons for a first round pick is still too much imo...

Wow, this guy wouldn't trade Lin+Parsons for Wiggins.

First OP and then this, thread is nuts.

This thread is the perfect example of why newer users should not be allowed to create one. I vote for a new rule placing at least some restrictions on this.

I guess Magic Johnson but he is in the GOAT discussion. Maybe McHale should get some tape from those years to see how Magic Johnson and Norm Nixon were both able to play effectively and win a championship. Neither could hit a spot up 3 either.

Come to think about it - those Laker teams relatively sucked at power forward too.

    Dwight - Kareem
    Chandler - Jamaal
    Harden - Magic
    Lin - Nixon

No I am not equating our guys with those guys, just seeing some similarities in the relative strength of the positions.

OP is from 2009 lol... less than 250 posts in all these years, but decided to come out of the woodwork to propose this brilliant trade. Well done, OP, well done.

What if the Rockets traded Lin for Paul, Parsons for Lebron, d-mo for LMA do you think they would win the championship?

    CP3
    Harden
    Lebron
    LMA
    Dwight
