Stiller directed this and from the looks of it he's been watching too much Wes Anderson and Vimeo 'Staff Picks' whilst listening to Pitchfork editors selections.

There's just so much derivative going on.

I dont like pigeon-holing. Will judge the movie on its own merits. Otherwise it at least looks interesting.

Eternal Sunshine was one of Carrey's best, if not the best, even if not a typical Carrey movie.

Does look a bit twee, but I think it will depend on the script. Thurber's original short story is great, and it was adapted by Steve Conrad, who did Pursuit of Happyness. (Conrad may make it a sentimental quagmire of unearned and overblown moments, but I hope he somehow keeps the Thurber-ness.)

I like Ben Stiller, and I like Kristen Wiig. I also like Walter Mitty short story. I'll give it a shot. It doesn't look horrible to me.

I really enjoy the original movie with Danny Kaye.

Not sure where you got the Wes Anderson connection but it definitely at least looks interesting.

I haven't read the short story.. Anyone want to fill us lazy readers in on what it's about??

The overhead symmetrical shots. Symmetrical compositions. 60s folk like music. In Stiller's defense pretty much every indie filmmaker since 2000 has ripped the Anderson style. Napoleon Dynamite, Garden State, etc...

The music is derivative of Edward Sharpe, that's all I got out of it. Definitely not Anderson-esque.

Trailer took me by surprised, it did remind me of other indie flicks but it was interesting enough to pique my interest.
