Maybe their thinking is similar to the Giants philosophy of hoping that a strong starting rotation and bullpen with just enough offense can carry them all the way. Although, I still think they lack a big time ACE.

Davidson does not excite me. Could be decent but I feel like I would prefer a lower level guy with more upside.

I'm more interested in guys that have proven themselves at AA-AAA honestly, the "goal" is to contend by 2015-2016..

I like Davidson, but also gotta have those low level upside players too. In Luhnow we trust

I don't think Bud is good enough to get an elite, proven double a prospect in trade. I guess we'll find out.

I don't either but Kevin Towers has no concept of prospect value, which makes me believe that Davidson could be traded.

"would be sweet if we could get glasnow and the pick" is quite different from "we will be able to get glasnow and the pick". not that you had any idea who glasnow was before the day started, and not like you have any concept of the value of the #70 pick, but that's neither here nor there.

and no, that's not why you got flamed. you got flamed because you're an obnoxious loser who rubs literally everybody on here the wrong way.

    keep on trollin'.

Once upon a time, there was no way Singleton and Cosart were coming to Houston for Pence.

I learned a long time ago never to underestimate the stupidity of a GM. If I was the Pirates I'd trade the pick no problem, but I wouldn't deal Glasnow. Doesn't mean it wouldn't happen, and I'd rather keep Bud if such a deal is not available.

They have such a good starting rotation, I don't know why they are interested in Bud honestly.

I was wondering the exact same thing, all 5 of their pitchers are having better years than Bud.

Maybe they want to trade Wandy and replace him with a pitcher younger and under team control? It would have to be financial somehow because it doesn't appear to make any sense for 2013.

Bingo. Sure, they have a decent rotation, but a team like the Pirates cherishes a cheaper contract with team control. Bud fits right into what they want to do financially, and if it costs them a couple of prospects to saturate their rotation, then so be it.

How's their closer? (*Who*'s their closer?)

Would a team be considering Norris as a late-innings reliever? (Is that a stupid question?)

They have a fantastic bullpen and I just don't see them being a team to use Bud in that situation. Grilli is out for awhile but vows to be back by the playoffs and former Astro Melancon is the closer for now (I believe).

Norris is most valuable as a starter for that contract, and I can't imagine a team getting him to be a reliever, but it probably isnt out of the realm of possibility.
