This, except I disagree on The Newsroom and True Blood. I'd recommend both of those also.

I put Deadwood slightly ahead of The Wire for best series ever, but it's definitely an acquired taste

All the dramas people have mentioned are pretty much worth watching, except the Newsroom and True Blood. True Blood for obvious reasons (overall ****tiness) and the Newsroom because it's absolute garbage (this is coming from a liberal who loved the West Wing)

Curb your Enthusiasm might be the best comedy ever

    The Wire above everything else.

I'll also give a mention to The Life & Times of Tim since no one else is showing it love. Very underrated animated comedy.

Yeah, I'm on the thresh-hold of buying a Roku, subscribing to HBOGO, Netflix or Redbox Instant (I like the 4 credits for rentals at the kiosk) and just kicking cable to the curb.

Deadwood would lead my list of what HBO has to offer, followed closely by Game of Thrones and The Wire. Flight of the Conchords is great as well.

You can't get HBOGo without subscribing to HBO via cable or satellite.

Once they allow that, it's the ala-carte avalanche... but for now, you can't get HBOGo by itself.

Yeah, the only reason I have just HBO GO is because a family member has HBO and they let me use their cable log in so i can watch on my iPad lol.

Ok, I think tonight I'm going to start on The Wire, either that or 6 feet under. So much to choose from! Haha

Hey Nick - Roku has the HBOGO app. Can't you sign up that way? If not, thanks for the heads-up.

It's a small box you hook up to your tv with RCA or hdmi cables that picks up the internet via a wireless connection. It provides apps for hbogo, netflix, Amazon Prime, vudoo and many other content providers. They run $49 to $99 depending on the model.

Also if you have Directv, they don't allow you to use your credentials for Roku box (while allowing it for Apple TV). I cancelled directv hbo and use my friends comcast credentials. This is not a Roku decision but a Directv one.

I thought comcast doesn't allow it on roku as well. Did that change?

EDIT: Just looked it up, they still don't allow it. Only places you can get HBOGo through comcast is AppleTV, Xbox, Laptop and mobile devices (basically every place EXCEPT Roku).

No, you can't. As soon as you go to the app you have to authenticate it with your HBO account. Only way you can get an HBO account is to have a cable/satellite subscription.
