how is this related to our pg situation tho? =) voted the first, love him want him to stay. we can score with the best of them before adding harden and howard the last thing we need is a "3rd superstar" who only scores and easily gets irritated by the likes of a scola.
We are not serious contenders until we get a reliable PF. We can make noise though with Asik as a back up till then so no hurry and then maybe get lucky and Tjones will show us he is the man. If that happens then we can keep Asik and dare the other team to come inside whole games.
Asik was up there contending to be my favorite player on the Rockets last year. That said, I don't believe in him as a PF, I don't believe you can run an NBA offense with Asik and Howard together, and I think he deserves more than backup minutes. So yes, I'd support trading him, though not in a fire sale.
My thoughts too. I don't think he and Dwight will play well together and 12 minutes is far too short of time to be giving to someone as good as Asik. Add that to the rumor he's unhappy. I'm fine with keeping him as a backup and seeing how it goes, but I think inevitably he will be traded because some team will give us an offer we can't refuse.
love him for his defense and rebound but hate him when he fumble passes and missed layups i don't mind trading him if the player in return can help our team i feel Jones/Motiejunas/Smith at PF is good enough unless we are getting Love or Aldridge don't even mention trading Lin we wont get a better PG in return CP3 is not available, he just got what he wanted in LAC Deron just got his super team Rondo can't shoot, wont work with Howard who wants to post up more than pick and roll Westbrook hates us Rose, yea right Irving, stop dreaming Wall, just extended his contract Curry, GSW is not trading him
No We could trade Lin for a bag of chips and the Rockets would be fine. Even better than we can use that salary.
Whenever I do a poll, I make sure to craft the poll before submitting on the post so that I can quickly copy-and-paste the poll entries and get the poll up before someone can ask me where the poll is. You'd think people would have learned by now, but every poll thread's second post is "where's the poll?"
Irregardless of his current fit with Howard, his contract considerations, his future trade value, his role playing second fiddle etc, shouldnt more patience be exercised towards the development of a very promising player? Hold on to them and start establishing a culture for nurturing young ones. Would be sad to see him go.
Keep him at all costs. Will be a vital part of any success we have. Back-up C was our Achilles heel last year as evidenced by the dramatic drop-off in D every time Asik sat last year. I read somewhere that when Asik sat, every one of our players was a minus player. Here is a podcast from the Dreamshake, I found the Asik part interesting, especially the part about his unhappiness. http://www.thedreamshake.com/2013/7/26/4559776/the-dreamshake-on-the-phil-naessens-show Should we flip Asik for an upgrade at 4? To improve our offense? Our offense was fine last year and should only get better with Dwight and an extra year's experience under everyone's belt. As long as Garcia can make up for Delfino's production off the bench, we are not missing a beat from last year. Do we go after a 4 for defense? With Asik, our defense was fine. Without a quality back-up 5 our defense fell apart. We got one now. Plus I think Jones has a breakout year.
I love Asik, but just because he's a great center doesn't mean he should stay on the team. He won't be utilized to benefit the team because of DH12, so you might as well trade him for someone that might not be as good as Asik relative to other C's, but someone that could be utilized a lot more effectively by filling in Houston's hole at PF. That's where Ryan Andersen comes in. Too bad New Orleans already has a stud at their center position or the trade would have been done by now.
