It's not just "flashy" it's the fact that Howard, unlike Asik can move quickly laterally, out maneuver and out muscle his defender, and catch a freaking pass.

No he didn't. If you consider the minutes played its about 5.3 points more per game..hardly TWICE as much

This is accurate. Maybe even generous. Brooklyn is pretty stacked even if they are a bunch of money-hungry mercenaries.

I have no problem with that. Anywhere between 5-9 makes sense.

We have some great pieces (a weakish bench), still need to see the coaching, strategy, effort and execution. And as the article says, whether D12 embraces PnR (which he excels at) or try to be a post-up guy will be a big factor.

Why were the Rockets odds the same as the Spurs last year?

7th is exactly where i thought we'd be.

    Heat
    Spurs
    Thunder
    Clippers
    Nets
    Knicks
    Rockets

    Top 4 in the west.

I'm sorry but I really don't know how anyone on here can say that the Rockets are a top 3 team. Look, I get supporting our team but I think that is just unrealistic. Not saying it couldn't happen and that is where we end up, it is just hard to see how we are at that level.

Love Asik, but even a hoobbled Howard is better than a healthy Asik. Howard said recently he is finally healthy, and if that is indeed the case, he may be the missing link that make us true contenders. At this point, rankings are not important at all.

Two regular season games doesn't mean much.

The Rockets destroyed the Warriors in the regular season, and the Warriors took the Spurs, who were 1 FT from a title, to 6 games.

Man, I wish this was true. Better record than Miami those 2 years while looking lie possibly the 2nd best team in the league during stretches. I would absolutely love that.

Pacers took the Heat to 7 games and almost won. Could the Rockets have done that? No.

Could they have done it if they got as insanely lucky as the Pacers did that series? Maybe. The Pacers will never get that lucky again.

the rankings are actually quite good. He over ranked the clips and the pacers but the nets should have been higher. We should be 5 or 6 but we haven't proven crap ... this is all on paper stuff

Being high on the power rankings is more of a curse than it is a blessing, especially with a younger team. Its better to be underrated at this point.
