This **** is silly. Wearing a Tebow jersey is a 'bad decision'. 'Continues to make bad decisions.' Give me a ****ing break already. Mark Schlereth: I understand you're 20 and college kids like to party but you have to understand where you sit, who you are, who you represent and the responsibility that comes with that. Johnny loves the fame, doesn't love the celebrity right now. He has taken full advantage of the celebrity bestowed upon you. Act like it. Take that responsibility. Grow up a little bit. You like to party? Make sure you're in the confines of your own place, take the cell phones, turn them off and go to it but you have to understand the responsibility with the fame you have acquired. Herm Edwards: You bring a lot of people into the equation. First, the head coach. He doesn't want to meet the press. The press is mad at him because he didn't talk about Manziel right away. He has to realize you bring a lot of people into the equation in what he does. There is responsibility. We've all been 20 years old. I have a problem with his history. He's starting to be a repeat offender of the same situations. Nothing bad but a history. Jesse Palmer: My initial reaction: it wasn't newsworthy. Nothing to do with football. He didn't break any rules or any laws. He's the biggest celebrity that has ever played college football. It's not newsworthy. Sage Steele: He knows we're watching everything. So what does he do? Goes to a UT frat party. Then he wears a Tebow jersey basically saying "Bleep you". Does he continue to make bad decisions knowing we're watching everything? Herm Edwards: He makes good decisions on the football field but right now, he's made some bad decisions. You go to another university, you go to Texas A&M, lets say he's at this party and a few guys drink too much and take a swing at him. Now we have issues but he put himself in that position. You don't want to be the guy involved in a situation where you put yourself there. He went there. Mark Schlereth: When he is scrutinized, he falls back on "I'm only 20." Don't put the spotlight on you and then cry victim when a few skeletons are exposed. You can't do that, have it both ways. He's opened himself up for criticism. What happens if he comes out and doesn't play well? We'll do a timeline of events. You open yourself to more scrutiny when you're not controlling the message that's going out there because you're out there putting yourself... Palmer: It's the information age. You have to be on your best behavior at all times. It doesn't matter if your Manziel or the 6th string kicker, if you're in public and make a bad decision or awkward situation, there's a good chance someone is catching that on their phone or tweeting it. You have to be aware today. We could hide when we played. You can't hide today. Schlereth: I told my son no twitter. You can't handle twitter. You'll put someone on blast. You need thick skin to be on twitter. People will go after you. You have to be able to restrain. Herm Edwards: My dad told me: I gave you your last name. Don't you screw it up or embarrass it. Do not embarrass it. I gave it to you. I don't know if Manziel has done that but he's bringing undue attention. Sumlin will have a conversation with Manziel. He put the head coach in a bad spot on media day. The guys in the locker room will have to go there. It becomes not football. I get you're 20 years old. You have to make better decisions. Jesse Palmer: I give Sumlin credit because he is walking a tight rope. He can't lock Manziel in a dorm room. He wants him to enjoy this experience. Manziel has earned the Heisman. Sitting court side, you're allowed to do that. You can't do some of these same mistakes he made this off-season. You hope he learns and doesn't repeat them. Herm Edwards: They need to start practicing.
The big font was truly needed, as was your repost of a video someone already put in this thread 4 pages back. I know this is an A&M thread but you're TexAgin' it up. Stop trying so hard for rep and it will come to you.
http://www.tmz.com/2013/07/29/johnny-manziel-frat-party-booze-age-texas/ Johnny Manziel was asked to leave a University of Texas frat party this weekend because he tried to drink a beer ... and frat officials became worried he would be a liability because he's only 20 years old, TMZ has learned. The Heisman Trophy winner has been at the center of a media firestorm ever since a video emerged showing the Texas A&M quarterback being escorted out of a UT frat party Saturday night ... while one guy screamed, "Get the f**k out!!" But our frat sources tell us ... the decision to boot Manziel wasn't based on school rivalry -- it was about staying out of trouble with school officials. Didn't see it, thought it was funny, posted the link, yousoangry, grow up, buthurt, moar. Not trying to come off as rude, but I didn't post it for rep, thats just your insecurities channeling in.
Wait you're angry about that vid? I don't really have time to argue but if you saw, my comment was in response to a poster that didn't see it. You don't get "rep" for posting vids, so now I'm really confused. I think you need to calm down brah. Adios.
hey a&m, while you guys are practicing your yells for games, Ut is partying in freaking july! step your game up! (just trollin')
Can't see this ever happening but funny to think about Johnny Football was a Texas Tornado this past weekend. The Aggies QB dropped by a University of Texas fraternity party, and then got tossed out. He also happened to tell our source a very interesting potential scenario. ” I* had a conversation with Johnny Manziel this past weekend in Austin. Johnny said he’d sit out a year just so he could play for Texas..” said our source who spoke directly to Johnny. In the past Johnny has tweeted he ‘can’t wait to leave college station’ but I just figured his next stop would be the NFL, not Austin…and based on his reception this past weekend, I think he may not be welcome.-TO http://www.terezowens.com/johnny-manziel-willing-to-sit-out-a-year/?utm+source
No question about it... Manziel is in a unique financial situation that enables him to bask in the spotlight, the media is blowing this stuff up bigger than it should be (cant blame them), and these shenanigans (distractions) will probably hurt Texas A&M this year. But is it good for the program? I think so. We're showing young, impressionable recruiting targets how you can become a celebrity playing for Texas A&M. This kid is a star, he's drinking under age, being seen with famous athletes, hot women, speaking his mind openly in social media with seemingly no constraints or blowback from the staff. Is TAMU sending a message to recruits that they can be themselves and enjoy life there instead of blending in for boring old Nick Saban over at Alabama? It's as if TAMU is taking the basketball recruiting approach, coddle the stars, enable them, don't break them down, don't stifle them. It's not really a "good" message to be sending, but it might be a message that helps us land even more world class talent. Particularly outside of Texas. I'm all for the experiment.
dude, if he ditches the Aggies for Texas, he would be the most hated Aggie of all time. I welcome him to UT, i'm sure he already knows his way around campus
I believe that was sarcastic and her attempt at humor. Jane McManus is a Jets/Giants writer... just another shot at Tebow.
