Great signing! Remember the days of having only one guy over 6'10 on the team and a starting center 6'6 (Thabeet doesn't count)?? Now we have 4 legit 7 footers and are finally a big team. We've had years of players that are undersized at every position possible, well no more SMALL BALL! McHale better give him some minutes every now and again though , I don't want to see Greg Smith at the C anymore..
I am pumped about this signing. This gives us tons of flexibility. Plus, I've liked Camby forever and wanted him on the Rockets. Such a solid career. Tons of fun to watch him try to get us into the playoffs two years ago. I'm not sure why, but I'm almost as stoked about this as I was about Dwight. Maybe because I know this means we can get something good for Asik without it hurting.
Not wanting to spoil your enthusiasm, the dude was injured a lot with the Knicks last year. Asik has to be around for most of the year, sure he is a trade candidate but Camby's health is shaky.
anyone thinks we'll trade him to Philly??? Rosas should not have gone to DAL. Friendship is one thing but in-state rivalry is something else. We don't want to make Dallas' life any easier.
I don't want to spoil your negativity, but not every injury leads to another. His Houston miles will likely be stretched out by low usage.
I am only saying as a backup he isn't as durable as Omer was with the Bulls. Being realistic is being the new negative. Interesting to know. He is the 39 and not Mutombo strong. Fair enough. You like the guy. I get it.
Therefore you can't rely on a 39 old to be your main backup. So is Omer going first or does the one year contract of Camby expire first?
Because of the pluses that Howard gives you, Greg Smith and Camby should be enough to back him up. Omer is a luxury. A wasted luxury. Add that to Chris Finch's love of going small and being in McHale's ear, I'd expect that Camby shouldn't have to play too many minutes. Camby played 19 games for us and got 7 points, 9 boards per game. That kind of result would be amazing if you cut it in half and that's all we need from him. He played 24 mpg that year and this year, we need less than 12 this time around. I like this for so many reasons, but you are right in saying Omer would be better. He is better. Unfortunately, he's too good. Omer/Yao would have been amazing though.
Maybe Morey already has something lined up, but I'd be very surprised if Asik were moved before the Blazers decide what to do with LMA.
