if people would just not respond it would go away...respond by complaining about it raises it up on the board for more people to comment... just use common sense... no need to say HEY MOD look at me and lock this thread...let them do their job if it needs to be locked thats why we have mods. Its not because of the quality of the posts most people respond for attention. Its stupid and more annoying than the plethora of crappy posts.
I dont understand why this is a crappy post anyway...Its actually a debate that is interesting and has plenty of people on both sides. Also its relevant to us as rockets fans for 2 reasons...one we traded for harden so of OKCs big 3 we got him (so there will always be a connection there). Second they could have decided to keep harden and traded westbrook. But they chose westbrook. So we are inclined to think they though westbrook was better...but did they make the right choice? Plus there is literally nothing going on and we all are still hyped up from the howard move. So we need to ramble about something
Should take your own advice and just ignore the posts you consider annoying then. The point was not whether or not the original post was useful or not, but the fact that there was no point in creating an entirely new thread for it. OP could have simply posted in any of our numerous threads talking about Harden already.
If I had to pick one over another, I;m going with the player with more impact, and I think that'd be WB. Harden can be stopped, WB.... well... hard to stop such an athletic freak.
Harden is a flat out better scorer. I think Westbrook's better at pretty much everything else. A few numbers from Synergy: Offense: Harden shows a clear superiority at both scoring the most points per possession and getting to the line more in each of the major halfcourt offense situations. <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="510"><colgroup><col style="mso-width-source:userset;mso-width-alt:2742;width:56pt" width="75"> <col style="mso-width-source:userset;mso-width-alt:2011; width:41pt" span="2" width="55"> <col style="mso-width-source:userset;mso-width-alt:1718;width:35pt" width="47"> <col style="mso-width-source:userset;mso-width-alt:2194;width:45pt" width="60"> <col style="mso-width-source:userset;mso-width-alt:1792;width:37pt" width="49"> <col style="mso-width-source:userset;mso-width-alt:1901;width:39pt" width="52"> <col style="mso-width-source:userset;mso-width-alt:2084;width:43pt" width="57"> <col style="mso-width-source:userset;mso-width-alt:2194;width:45pt" width="60"> </colgroup><tbody><tr style="height:15.0pt" height="20"> <td style="height:15.0pt;width:56pt" height="20" width="75"> </td> <td colspan="2" class="xl65" style="width:82pt" width="110">Overall</td> <td colspan="2" class="xl65" style="width:80pt" width="107">Iso</td> <td colspan="2" class="xl65" style="width:76pt" width="101">P&R</td> <td colspan="2" class="xl65" style="width:88pt" width="117">Spot Up</td> </tr> <tr style="height:15.0pt" height="20"> <td style="height:15.0pt" height="20"> </td> <td class="xl67">PPP</td> <td class="xl67">Foul %</td> <td class="xl67">PPP</td> <td class="xl67">Foul %</td> <td class="xl67">PPP</td> <td class="xl67">Foul %</td> <td class="xl67">PPP</td> <td class="xl67">Foul %</td> </tr> <tr style="height:15.0pt" height="20"> <td style="height:15.0pt" height="20">Harden</td> <td align="right">1.01</td> <td align="right">13.3</td> <td align="right">0.93</td> <td align="right">15.9</td> <td class="xl66" align="right">1.00</td> <td align="right">12.5</td> <td align="right">1.04</td> <td align="right">8.2</td> </tr> <tr style="height:15.0pt" height="20"> <td style="height:15.0pt" height="20">Westbrook</td> <td align="right">0.92</td> <td align="right">8.7</td> <td align="right">0.83</td> <td align="right">9.5</td> <td align="right">0.78</td> <td align="right">7.5</td> <td align="right">1.15</td> <td align="right">7.9</td> </tr> </tbody></table> Defense: Conversely, Westbrook gives up less points per possession than Harden even while being aggressive enough to force more turnovers in most common situations. <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="510"><colgroup><col style="mso-width-source:userset;mso-width-alt:2742;width:56pt" width="75"> <col style="mso-width-source:userset;mso-width-alt:2011; width:41pt" span="2" width="55"> <col style="mso-width-source:userset;mso-width-alt:1718;width:35pt" width="47"> <col style="mso-width-source:userset;mso-width-alt:2194;width:45pt" width="60"> <col style="mso-width-source:userset;mso-width-alt:1792;width:37pt" width="49"> <col style="mso-width-source:userset;mso-width-alt:1901;width:39pt" width="52"> <col style="mso-width-source:userset;mso-width-alt:2084;width:43pt" width="57"> <col style="mso-width-source:userset;mso-width-alt:2194;width:45pt" width="60"> </colgroup><tbody><tr style="height:15.0pt" height="20"> <td style="height:15.0pt;width:56pt" height="20" width="75"> </td> <td colspan="2" class="xl65" style="width:82pt" width="110">Overall</td> <td colspan="2" class="xl65" style="width:80pt" width="107">Iso</td> <td colspan="2" class="xl65" style="width:76pt" width="101">P&R</td> <td colspan="2" class="xl65" style="width:88pt" width="117">Spot Up</td> </tr> <tr style="height:15.0pt" height="20"> <td style="height:15.0pt" height="20"> </td> <td class="xl68">PPP</td> <td class="xl68">TO %</td> <td class="xl68">PPP</td> <td class="xl68">TO %</td> <td class="xl68">PPP</td> <td class="xl68">TO %</td> <td class="xl68">PPP</td> <td class="xl68">TO %</td> </tr> <tr style="height:15.0pt" height="20"> <td style="height:15.0pt" height="20">Harden</td> <td align="right">0.92</td> <td align="right">10.5</td> <td align="right">0.72</td> <td class="xl66" align="right">11.0</td> <td class="xl67" align="right">0.80</td> <td align="right">19.7</td> <td align="right">1.07</td> <td align="right">5.6</td> </tr> <tr style="height:15.0pt" height="20"> <td style="height:15.0pt" height="20">Westbrook</td> <td align="right">0.84</td> <td align="right">13.2</td> <td class="xl67" align="right">0.70</td> <td align="right">14.2</td> <td align="right">0.75</td> <td align="right">20.4</td> <td align="right">1.02</td> <td align="right">3.6</td> </tr> </tbody></table> Interestingly, the difference between their offensive and defensive points per possession is extremely close - Harden, per possession, outscores his matchup by 0.09 points; Westbrook outscores his by 0.08 points. From there, you have two other counterbalances - Westbrook sets up his teammates more often (and has less turnovers), but Harden's clear advantage is in scoring efficiently at high volumes, the single biggest star-definining quality. To be honest, I think they are both better at doing their current job than the other one would be. Harden is not overpowering and aggressive enough to match Westbrook's impact as a #2 guy, and Westbrook is not efficient and restrained enough to deal with being the only playmaker on offense.
Well now we all know why you didnt make it as a teams GM. Just for the fact that you said you would take Tony Parker over him nullifies anything else you say your post. You would take a one-dimensional three point shooting Steph Curry over him? I take that back. The fact that you said you take Melo over him nullifies anything else you posted.
I am by no means a Westbrook fan. I have always said that the only person on the court that can stop Kevin Durant is Westbrook. I think his decision making is atrocious at times. That being said, he is a great player. He plays point guard (I know many think he is a shooting guard). He can do it all on the court and at times he is unstoppable. On the offensive end he can do what Harden does and he is a ton better at distributing the ball. Does that mean I want him over Harden, absolutely not. I love Harden's style and basketball is entertainment. Something about Westbrook personality irritates the snot out of me. The one thing that does bother me about the Harden Westbrook comparison is that Westbrook is 10 times the defender that Harden is. Fortunately, with Dwight back there, I can take it.
does really work the same lol I was saying that in reference to responding bumps the thread up so it will get more responses. if its garbage it will go away
westbrook is more talented imo. I'd rather have harden though, due to westbrook sometimes playing like a headless chicken at times.
i'm sorry rocket fans for my wrong use of IMO and i didn't think this would be a wasted thread considering it's a good topic and relates to us and plus it's the offseason for us and there's not a lot to talk about
well i mean if you look at how much they outscore their matchups by Harden wins by a little. so even though Harden plays worse defense he still gets enough points. but i am not saying that, for this reason Harden shouldn't improve defensively. if he improves defensively then the argument is over.
It's fine. We all make mistakes and it gave the rest of us some good laughs. In all honesty, we are just giving you a hard time. Glad you aren't taking it seriously. Props to you!
They have different strengths. Westbrooke is by far the stronger finisher. If you need a guy to get to the rim AND finish - it's westbrook. But I think Harden is better at drawing contact and trickier. He also has a better jump shot in my opinion.
Who are you to call this thread worthless and r****ded. We are all fans of this team and have the right to start whatever thread we want. Who died and made you the King of Threads joker. Get a F***ing life. The man asked a simple freaking question and you as well as others took the sh** the wrong way. Like I said before if you don't like a thread ignore it, don't comment period. Some members chimed in with some positive comments and great analysis so to them its not worthless nor r****ded.
