Just asking, in no way trolling BEV. How does patrick beverly pick up fouls in a flash and get fouled out? on perimeter defense?
Are you not? And if you are not, why do propose that it's just as logical to propose James Harden to be the Rockets sixth man rather than Lin?
the prestige of being a starter , who cares if we win. I think he is proposing , Lin/Dwight Harden/Asik
I wasn't actually suggesting that Harden should be our sixth man. I wasn't saying it was just as logical. Didn't you see the "lol" right after I said that. What I said and have always felt is that there's nothing wrong with Lin being suggested as a 6th man, but that I personally believe that it is not the right choice for all of the reasons mentioned on this thread. And I'm not saying it's you, but I find it distasteful that many (not all) of the Lin-as-6th-man advocates have called Lin trash, a bench player, or that he should be traded, that Bev is better than him, and have clearly hated his game and are now saying.."yeah, he would be great as a 6th man. He'd do so well. Bev should start.." As everyone has already has already said a dozen times, why bring him off the bench if staggering would do the same thing. And who decided that Lin and Harden couldn't get along, even though there were clearly signs of them doing well together. And Lin does not have the scorer's mentality but rather is a pnr pg (as I was throughout school), and would be perfect with Dwight even with Harden out there. You know what, straight up, it sounds like a boss giving someone a demotion but saying that it's actually good for them. That it's better for them. It's condescending and transparent. Some on the other hand, truly mean it, that Lin being a 6th man is for strategy, and to them I have nothing but love as a Rockets fan even if we disagree for the reasons above.
Starting Lineup Lin Harden - Howard - Parsons - Garcia Harden was asked today about Lin's play last night: "It all starts with him. He's our leader. He's our starting PG. We move as he moves." https://twitter.com/ho_chenCSN/status/313048766099894272
Mid-range jumper? Probably because they didn't practice it? or other reasons? many things Anyway next season Harden will still dominate the ball but not that much. And there will be training camp and adjustments, they will add plays for other players and reduce that sticky ball. You can bet it will be different.
You start Beverly to get into the opposing point guards head by him hounding them defensively. In crunch time...if we need D put in Beverly, if we need offense put in Lin, if we need shooting go with the hot-hand.
Because he is playing according to the NBA rules of the Jordan era, but unfortunately, he is playing in the LBJ/CP3 sissy league.
Another way of putting it is: "To maximize the efficiency and skillset of our team, Jeremy Lin should play every minute James harden is not on the court, plus some side by side to round out his minutes"
It seems like all the arguments against having Lin as a sixth man are sentimental and not basketball based in nature. It's basically just staggering Lin and Harden's minutes but having Lin not start so that he's fresh during Harden's first break. Waste of energy having both of them out there at the beginning.
I like the idea of having Lin coming of the bench. He and Asik would instantly give us one of the top second units in the league. I could see Lin in a Lowry role when Lowry used to come off the bench: averaging 20-25 minutes but going at breakneck speed because there was no need to hold back. When Lowry led the bench mob, they crushed opposing second units, and Lin and Asik could do the same IMO. That playing style would also best allow Lin to recapture the "Linsanity" mode of play. Then again, Lowry made it clear back then he didn't expect to play the "energy guy" for the rest of his career, and he of course took over the starting spot. Lin may have the same attitude and see such a move as a demotion rather than a maximizing of his talents.
linsanity doesnt happen without tyson chandler. so lin needs to play with howard not asik. imo there will be instant chemistry between them because lin likes feeding bigs, and dwight likes being fed.
