    See poll:

I did not include the team they used during the 98 lockout - where Rudy T coached a team of thrown-together-at-the-last-minute minor leaguers and journeymen w/o NBA contracts llike David Wood, Jimmy King and to the Bronze. One of the great unheralded coaching achievements of all timie, btw. They should make a movie out of it.

    Christian Laettner (92)
    Nick Collison (02)
    Jay Williams (02)
    Raef LaFrentz (02)
    Emeka Okafor (06)

    Honorable mention:

    Rudy Gay (2010) ;)
    Shane Battier (2006)
    Kirk Hinrich (2006)

SHout out to Duke and Kansas btw.

Brings back memories of when Raef Lafrentz was a statistical monster for fantasy basketball (3's, reb, blks, low TO).

I think it's actually Nick Collison. Raef and Christian were at least starters in the NBA for many years.

I'll probably get killed for this but i'm going with Larry Bird. He was so old and worn down by the 1992 olympics that he retired shortly afterwards. He couldnt guard anyone in the olympics. He was a NAME only in the olympics. One of my all-time favorite players but Raef Lafrentz, Jayson Williams, and everyone else in your poll would have schooled Bird.

By that criteria ("worst at the time") the 2002 version of Reggie Miller was ....

Seriously? I dislike the way Melo plays in the NBA, but you can't deny how big of a weapon he was in the last Olympics. When he doesn't have to handle the ball/make decisions and is only required to put the ball in the hoop, there's not a lot better.

I was half joking. I mean, obviously that guy has some talent and I guess he's deserving of being in the Olympic Team but I really just despise his style of play and his attitude. He just doesn't seem like an easy guy to play with, you know?

Laettner went on to have a good rookie year. No, he wasn't as deserving as Shaq or Zo, but he doesn't belong on the list.

And more on that criteria, 2010 chauncey billups was a bad performer

And 2008 jason kidd was dreadfully mediocre on what seemed a spiteful approach to go through the whole olympics with not even attempting a shot.

Prime Brad Miller was a pretty good player... at least better than the other guys on the list. Only thing he has in common is that he's a goofy white guy lol.

Personally, I would have excluded Laettner, Williams, & Collison from the list. It's tough for me to hold the "token" college players to the same standards as the active NBAers.

Out of that remaining players, I think it's got to be LaFrentz & even he wasn't terrible. I mean he wasn't up to the usual Team USA standard but he did have a half-way decent career.
