My understanding is that this will encrypt all of the packets, but your IP address will still be visible to everyone else on the torrent (including snoopers.)

Encrypting the packets can maybe fool packet sniffing technology that tries to figure out what you're sending... but if I'm not mistaken, your IP adress has to be visible when torrenting, otherwise how do you know where to send the packets?

That's why using a torrent-friendly VPN service is the number one way to protect yourself. But please correct me if I'm wrong, because if forcing encryption is enough, then great.

I heard some VPNs are forwarding the warnings to its customers. Anybody heard the same or have experience torrenting with a VPN?

Really, I'm so out of the scene now I really don't know how to answer your question. I used to be a brainiac on this stuff as I was all over Waffles/What.CD/PtP/Scene Access forums but I quit a couple of years back.

I do download a lot of music and blue ray movies, but all are from those sites and they are private sites, I never venture to wide open public sites like Pirate Bay. I usually download around 50-100GB a month and upload double that. I've never had one email or question about my account from Uverse either, so either it's working or they just do not care?

I wish I could have answered your question with more knowledge. Sorry.

Never have received an email from Comcast. I also frequently have gone over their BS cap of 300 GB that they used to have. Never got a warning for that.

Only reason I put up with their random Internet rate increases.

See my earlier post in this thread. I was forwarded a few warnings from HMA VPN even though I used a private torrent site to download Newsroom. I still download from the private torrent site using HMA VPN and haven't received a warning in over a year though.

Can you steal music? That doesn't even make sense... If humanity makes it, I have the right to listen to it, FOR FREE.

Piracy helped a lot in this sphere.
Instead of bull**** prices for albums and songs, you can pay for something like Spotify. Unlimited music for a monthly fee. Hell of a lot better than paying an unreal price for digital albums and songs. Competition, even illegal, is always a good thing.
