We were already over the cap when we signed all those guys. We got under the cap this offseason and then used all the cap room to sign Dwight Howard as a free agent.

Once we were at the cap we could still add players via veteran minimum contracts (Casspi, Williams, Brooks, Garcia) and you can use the room exception to sign players. Those monies can't be added together. Jack and Ellis signed for significantly more than either the room exception or the vet minimum so we never had any chance to sign them.

If Morey had combined our back court into one player he would have a 38 PER and average 40/8/12! What a missed opportunity!

Monte Ellis would have made this team a dynasty like Jordan's Bulls.

    Signed,

    Monte Ellis

Got it. Thanks for the clarification.

(To my critics: what's done to me will be done unto you, tenfold. Better learn who I am. Someone here already knows. Y'all be good, now)

Unless you're a player on the team or someone in the front office (which you clearly are not by your lack of understanding of cap space),

Yeah, I know we had zero cap space but Les is willing to pay the penalty for going over the cap so long as we get under it within 3 years ti avoid the Repeater Tax.

However, we still have great flexibility moving forward, with sign and trade deals. We have attractive pieces, ya know? So, it's not all doom to damnation as far as adding Superstsr talents.

....right. Thanks for showing me you care enough to be dramatic about it.

Still can't grasp the CBA huh? You can't sign player for more than the Room exception. You'd have to trade for them to make larger salary allowable

Who's claiming doom and damnation? The cap and the luxury tax line are 2 different things.

The penalty TAX is not for going over the cap, which is $58.679 million.
The tax is for going over the tax level $71.748 million.

Rockets have to sign a lot minimum players to get there.

BTW, Les wont pay the luxury tax, ever.

With that logic we could also have kept Robinson.

Did you not mean: Missed opportunity, just Morey misunderstanding cap rules.

Once you over the cap, you're in the luxury tax threshold. I think I was clear on that. No need to drum up mess when none was started. Sit down, man!

Wow. I didn't want to be too harsh on this guy. You got to start somewhere.

But the last quote is messed up. Who the fuq do you think you are?
