You guys forget... When this guy was healthy there was not a better closer in NBA. Yes, I would have taken him over LeBron... Derrick Rose was better IMO... But thise two were/are the elite.
Lebron was mainly playing defense on Rose throughout the game. In the finals, Lebron played D on Parker in the last 4-5 minutes of each quarter but not all the time. Another thing, Cp3 And Rose are the top two at their position hands down (when healthy), it can be argued either way. Parker and Westbrook have had great teammates making their success much easier than the success of Rose and Parker. Besides Rose, there were no other threats in the bulls when Heat played them, maybe Deng. Parker had Duncan who was still playing solid and Leonard playing solid (which forced Lebron to stay off of Parker) and you can argue Danny green. Westbrook had Durant and they still had the same result as the bulls when they played miami (4-1)
I wouldn't want him to think anything else? I mean, obviously it's not true (and Rose winning MVP that year was a farce), but good for him for having confidence.
He's a freaking elite level athlete who was coming off an MVP season before his injury. Yes he's wrong, Lebron is better, but wholly crap you don't get to that level without arrogance, and even the humble derrick rose is oozing that. which is a good thing.
Lebron was not guarding Derrick Rose throughout the game. He only guarded him down the stretch of the 4th quarters.
This. Eli Manning said he was in the class of Tom Brady before he won his 2nd and no less beating Brady. And who can forget Joe Flacco who said he was the best in the NFL couple seasons ago, he earned himself a Super Bowl MVP. I think some players are driven like that.

Rose was probably like the 9th best player in the L when he won MVP. He just happened to be the best offensive player on the best regular season team that was so good because of its ridiculous defense realized by Thibs. Rose contributed very little to that defense. Best offensive player on great teams because of their great defense often get overrated. It's the Allen Iverson effect.
Can someone please give me one aspect of the game where it is arguable that Rose is better than Lebron? Only thing I can possibly think of is FT%.
Too bad he lacked the confidence to help his team in the playoffs last year. He's a loser in my books because of that.
