Yeah, it's great. These people complaining either don't have friends or replaced them with families (ughf).
Had a good time there as well. Basically checked out Bourbon St., Harrahs, and the River Walk mall. Got lost in the hood when we were leaving NO though, that made me felt kinda uneasy.
LOL so many of you must sit in your house scared to go out. French Quarter is great, most European feel we have in the US. Food is grand but check yelp first - try Mother's if you can.
Yee, a bunch of bundle-up-at-home and watch some Downton Abbey and cross your fingers for missionary sex tonight-type folks up in here. "Honey, can you put the marshmallows in my hot chocolate". "No, we're out". "Can you go to the market and pick some up". "Oh my dear no, the Central Market is closed, it's past 9 and I dare not go to the Fiesta I say. It's in the Spring Branch, they drop the suspension on their vehicles over there honey, oh my lordy lordy". "I'll just put some of that almond butter you like on the side with green apple triangles and rub your feet". "Oh, did you let the dog out?"
New Orleans is so much fun. Highly recommend going to Port of Call to get one of their burgers and monsoons to drink(I recommend cabing here and then walking down bourbon to where all the good bars are) Café du monde is a must along with a late night at Harrah's Go to Bourbon street if you've never been. Get a hand grenade...or three
I stayed at the Omni on Gravier St. with my ex a couple of months back. It's a little older but I got a good deal and the location was perfect. Short walk to Warehouse district and Bourbon st. Went out at different times of night to take the dog for a walk and even went out at 2 AM to give away leftover food to a homeless person. Try Cochon Butcher for a quick, cheap lunch. Turkey sandwich and truffle macaroni and cheese from there are worth the drive to New Orleans alone, but we had a great time.
LMAO the first few post make New Orleans seem like some Brazilian shanty town. Did yall go together lol? Guess ill speak for myself when I say I had a great time in New Orleans. Even walked around after 1 from Harrahs, by myself, looking for something to eat. Nothing bad happened. You will have a great time. Don't let these chicken scare you out of a good time.
I'm going in mid-August but can't decide where to stay. Sheraton on Canal Street (walking distance from Harrah's) or the Westing in the French Quarter? I'd prefer good eats nearby with a casino close by too.
Wow the first page of this thread is the pussiest pussification I've ever read. Don't even worry, but I wouldn't go to Bourbon (too touristy). Frenchman's St. is the place to be. You can fall into any bar and have kick-ass live music playing at almost any time of day/night. Also, eat at Mother's if you can.
You guys are p*****s. Seriously, this thread is just embarrassing. New Orleans is my favorite city in the U.S.
2nd page has redeemed clutchfans from the simple-minded, sheltered first page. This is one of the situations I'm enjoying the pile on.
New Orleans pretty cool, went 2 months ago and want to go back. Loved the char broiled oysters at dragos (right across from Harrahs). Did a gator/swamp tour and ofcourse hung out a bourbon street. It's a good time.
If you are driving, put a piss filled diaper in the back seat of your car. This way when get there, you will be used to the New Orleans smell.
