What to do when Attacked by a Bear

didn't watch, but in boy scouts they always told us..

black bear: play dead

grizzly bear: climb a tree, really high

no chance in really outrunning a bear, i know the grizzly has been clocked up to 30mph in short spurts.

it's not like fighting off a mountain lion or shark either where they say fight back, especially with grizzly. too big


though this was always my approach.

Why in the world would you want to surprise a bear?

 

Worst thing you can do is sneak up on a bear. If hiking in bear country, make a lot of noise.

 

I once watched a youtube video of a woman being attacked by a bear, so this really hits home for me.

 

Did it happen in Katy? Or did you at least watch the video in Katy? Shudder

yeah..........didn't really work out very well
