Thats why Lin is still important, moreso to lessen the load on Harden. He was playing way too many minutes last season, and the back third we saw a pretty big dropoff.
What does that have to do with anything? Neal would be a back-up 2-guard. Why do you have to bring Lin into this?
In a seven game series, Neal will give you 1 or two games of hot shooting. How much do you want to spend on that inconsistency?
He's a career 39.8% 3pt shooter. 43.3% FG, 81.8% FT. For a few minutes he can give you some instant offense, if you use him right. He'd probably kill for a vet min contract. How would this be worse than what we have? Even if it's only garbage time it could still keep our offense honest.
I definitely would love Gary Neal hear. As intrigued as I am about having Omri Casspi and Reggie Williams revive their careers here, I still have my doubts whether they will be any good. Gary is a proven spark and along with Francisco would be excellent off the bench behind Harden. He might be small, but he plays with a lot of heart. I would rather sign him over Miller. I'd be happy to offer him the Room Exception with a Team Option for the 2nd year.
wouldn't mind seeing Neal here, but i feel like someone is going to overpay for him...3pt shooting is at a premium now...look at Korver and Calderon's contracts in relation to their ages
He's chucking at 39% fg lol. My only question though is why would the Spurs let him go if all he wants is a vet min contract? Spurs aren't exactly horrible talent evaluators, if they give up on a prospect that was big for them last year he's probably not worth the trouble.
21 minutes a game in 3 full seasons under Pops would probably make him our best perimeter defender, seriously... Would have been worth a look, but we have Reggie now.
A 38.5% 3 point shooter, averaging 3.1 3pt attempts per game, is basically going to get you 1-2 "hot" shooting games over the course of series. This isn't inconsistency. This simple math. The power of the 3pt shooter isn't how many 3s he drain over the course of the game, but rather the threat he provides while standing at the 3pt line. The ability to open up the paint for penetration and post-up play. In this case, a 38% shooter is better at the task than a 35% shooter who is better at it than a 30% shooter. Regardless of how many 3s they actually shoot in a game.
lets get NEAL! we need him in case James Harden gets injured he is a sniper. will fit perfectly with our team
