She's hanging on to see if he gets elected mayor. If he loses badly, she's out of there within six months. If he's close, she might stick around for another run at it.
I am of the opinion that if you want to run for public office, there's something wrong with you. However, I think this sexting part deux is indicative of a serious character flaw that I would not want to risk exposing public office to, over and above the sliminess of politicians in general. Is his competence so much better than the rest of the field that we'd want to take the gamble on his character? I wouldn't.
I would be in the "don't elect idiots" side of this. Weiner's politics were great, his personal judgement is awful. Of course that would rule out almost of the GOP. The Spitzer campaign is still on though. His mea culpa on Colbert was painful punishment.
