So I was reading the Chron comments and people are blaming the Train. It is a tragedy, but how can you blame the train. They don't move that fast. You just need to look before crossing the tracks just like you would when you cross the street.

Its like houstonians want any reason to not like trains.

This advice applies to pretty much every article or video on every site.

A heavy train inside a crowded downtown is a tragic recipe.

Metro needs to maintain a slower speed while inside downtown area and a hi-freq horn.

    and

    guards..

    and

    enforce jay walking.

Yes. So? If it's "crowded", shouldn't ALL THOSE PEOPLE have died, too?

How did THEY manage to avoid such a large train, pay attention to all the sounds, signs, etc.?

there are some true jackasses in this thread. The poor girl died. Let's show some sympathy rather than your stupid "told ya so -- should have been paying attention to the train" commentary.

If anything, the trains should go faster. They can be very slow sometimes, which is bad for commuters using the train.

I'd prefer it to be underground, but Houston doesn't wanna spend the money to do it.

It works fine the way it is as long as people are aware of their surrounding and follow the law.
