Or maybe we now have more connections around the league, which should help us in the future.

The hard part is pretty much done for the FO. Morey just has to find role guys, which should get easier because now we're seen as contenders. The team should sell itself. It's time for the players and coaching staff to do their thing.

Rockets front office is fine, hard part is done. And DM the GM is still at the helm.

I hope Morey is like Belichick, gets all his assistants poached, and they fail elsewhere, but belichick the train keeps on chugging.

Im guessing this year at the MIT Sloan Conference Morey will get more resume's from the worlds best and brightest than he ever has before.

I'm sure Morey has been networking and searching talent out for years now on the chance that he might have to fill roles in the front office. Nows the time to bring in some good young talent & smart (basketball)minds.

I think the front office will be fine.

As for the folks leaving for other roles (Hinkie, Arturas, Rosas), I think its great for future deals that the Rockets are building up so many different alliances accross the landscape of the league.

Let me ask this of the GARM- Would Morey have been able to move Royce White with at little expense paid if Hinkie was not with the Sixers???

IMO, no. There might not be another GM in the league that placed as high of value on Furkan Aldemir as Hinkie did, and been as willing to work with Morey on a deal that made sense for both teams.

This is just a minor deal, but one that had major implications if NOT accomplished. This shows that the Rockets building their network throughout the NBA landscape isn't a bad thing at all.

I normally agree with your thoughts, however I disagree here. Morey would of found a way to move Royce eg: worse case scnerio trade him along with a Greg smith/ DMo package to a deal for a future second

Or maybe it helps to have tom brady.

Bill did go 11-5 with castle, but I don't think that team got very far in the playoffs.

The colt's GM and Coach looked like geniuses with Peyton and almost went 16-0 and when they lost him, well they almost went 0-16.

I think in the NBA it is all about getting that top 5 player. I think we finally have one in Howard so from this point I think morey's job gets much easier.

There's more Rossas' and Hinkie's in the world, I'm sure Morey has met a slew of at the Sloan Analytics Conference.

It's not like Morey hasn't picked up some knowledge from Sam or Gersson either.

True, but remember that you can break down the Spurs regime into 3 eras.

    1. Manu/Parker era, when they literally stole 2 stars at the bottom of the draft before other teams caught up on foreign scouting. Here, they were head and shoulders ahead of the curve

    2. Plug-in veterans era. During this era, the Spurs plugged in lots of vets, many cut by other teams, to surround their big 3. If you look at their personnel record during this time, very mediocre.

    3. Current era of finding young role players. In many ways similar to Morey by drafting solid young players who while may have limited upside, play within their system and interject youth.

So the Spurs did have their down-time, but with Duncan/Manu/Parker in their primes, it didn't really matter. This really once again proves that stars win and everything else is only their for support, whether front office or role players.

And the Rockets have 2 superstars already along with tons of assets and young talents. So even if take a dip in the management, we're still fine because stars are still stars.
