not to turn this into a howard and asik duo front court. but isn't this more proof that it could work. PF that can "stretch" the court, at best shoot 37% from three. I'd rather give them the three than have them shoot 60% on demo or greg smith. And if the "stretch" 4 is taking those threes, that means harden's man doesn't have the red carpet for a lay up.

ok, maybe i just want the howard and asik line up to be a go.

i agree with your statement, i feel asik-howard will be asik-greg smith 2.0 but with defence from both positions...

This data shows how dwight is no.1 man in the nba at "invisible blocks" which are when dwights mere presence makes opponents take low percentage shots outside of 5 feet, so adding asik to that could make those numbers even more favourable to the DWIGHT EFFECT ...

i want asik and dwight to coexist for 8-12 mins a game

by these metrics Asik is a pretty mediocre defender. I know that's not true, but only based on personal perception and reputation. By what metrics does he rate well?

This seems like a false dichotomy to me. If you concede unlimited three point attempts to a 37% shooter you are spotting the other team a league-worst 111 points per 100 possessions, you won't win that way.

It's a leap to automatically rank our 4s alongside David Lee as a league-worst defender, and it's another leap to assume that even if they were that bad that it would lead to 60% shooting with the thread-titular Howard patrolling the paint as well. Good defenses lead by good interior defenders can hide the odd weak link - see what Chicago has done partnering Noah with Boozer.

And don't get me wrong, I love Omer and I would love an Omer-Dwight defense. I just don't think the alternative is as bad as you paint it.

Thanks for posting this article. I love this stuff. I wish I was smarter because I think I could get more out of it.

Anyway, notice that LMA, according to the authors of the paper, was one of the top 5 defensive players in "invisible blocks".

The thought of LMA next to D12 is almost too much to think about. I'm still sore in the undercarriage from the D12 signing. Signing LMA might be more than I could handle.
