My doorbell does not work, and I can't figure out why.

    Here are the "symptoms":

    The button is not lit
There is no buzz at the button nor the chime when pressed

Any idea what I need to replace/fix? Thanks!

probably a problem with the button . maybe a short or loose wire . Pull the button apart and check the wiring

citizen, there are plenty of places and tools out there on the interwebs to help with your problem. I personally have not done a replacement, but a quick search in YouTube yielded many results, and this is one from Home Depot, which seems more than legit.

Try Google and YouTube, man.

That reminds me -- my doorbell stopped working about 10 years ago. I haven't quite gotten around to fixing it.

Too late for that. Do you happen to have any rat poison available?

Look at the video Swoley D. Posted. Home depot has a door bell kit for $10. Everything you need is in the box. It took me 30 minutes to replace mine with 1 screwdriver. That small transformer for the door bell was up in the attic.
