In regards to the state of their current team, kind of sad: 1. Jose Calderon 2. Monte Ellis 3. Vince Carter 4. Dirk Nowitzki 5. Samuel Dalembert Quotes: Jose Calderon, Monta Ellis, Vince Carter, Dirk, Samuel Dalembert starting and Shane Larkin as backup PG, Wayne Ellington as shooter off the bench, Marion for some hustle and defense, plus Gal Mekel. That is a VERY solid team my friend. We got one of the best passers in the game, and one of the best scorers ( playing with dirk will help him with his fg%), and one of the best shooters. Dallas THIS year is better than Houston. Calderon + Carter + Ellington hit a combined 5 threes a game on 42% 3pt shooting in 2012-13, I think we're set as far as efficient outside shooters in the lineup and off the bench He's 45% for his career in FG for what it's worth. Last year was the worst shooting in his entire carfeer. It stands to reason that he'll bounce back, especially with Dirk taking on a great deal of the scoring load and getting a lot of the attention defensively from the opposing team. Really would have like to seem him get a chance @ PG with you guys but unfortunately with the Calderon signing, he may not. Just imagine him driving to the hoop and kicking the ball out to a wide open Dirk. Speaking of delusional fans, I was bored and decided to read the lakers forum and they were ranking the west. Most people has the lakers as the 5th best and some went with 3rd best. They were saying we would end up in 8th place again, basically saying they were better. The thing that made me laugh was when they compared themselves to the spurs saying Kobe=Parker/Manu, Nash=Manu/Parker and Pau=Duncan.
Without an injury there's no way Carlisle roles out that starting lineup. He would commit harakiri watching the defense of those guys together.
I would imagine they could make the same post about us, some random people in Dallas have blinders on like most of this board does.
I'm confused. Based on your OP, there was only one person who said the Mavs were better than the Rockets. I agree with the first quote though. That starting 5 is very solid.
It's Dirk and a bunch of scrubs. I guess they won a championship that way one year, but it doesn't seem very solid to me. DaBear is not even close to Tyson Chandler in both offense and defense.
You're quoting a sarcastic guy from overseas who has been yapping about getting Dwight, Josh Smith and Gortat since last offseason... To be fair, the Rockets have done NOTHING since 1999. They didn't make the playoffs 8 times in that span. I'm pretty sure the Mavericks aren't going to go a decade and half and miss the playoffs that many times. The Rockets time has come and they need to act on what they currently have. Mavericks did their job and won a ring in the Dirk era. Now it's their turn to take a seat along with the Lakers. That's the nature of sports in general. Let the idiot fans say what they want.
They still have Marion, right? He's actually still a solid player for them if he's still there. I could see them as a 7-8 seed.
