That'd be awesome. Bimathug for VP!!! Anyhow we must be doing something right for other teams to be offering much better positions to our executives. Good Luck Mr Rosas
excellent point... thank you for giving me a bright side. You are absolutely right, and how we are going in opposite directions than those teams it could be a mutually beneficial plus having solid relationships already in place.
IF the rockets win, those guys still get rings.. (its like when jeff luhnow left the cardinals to GM the astros and the cardinals won the world series, he got a ring.. why not go off for a better job when the opportunity presents itself.. you have to understand this is these guys profession its ultimately what their long term goals have been...
Morey isn't going to have a problem finding hungry young smart people. In fact the departure of guys like Rosas only create opportunity for the young and smart to succeed. How many MITers are salivating right now? Morey can have his pick of the litter and evolve. Thus is life.
Dallas? DALLAS?! Really, Gersson? F***ING DALLAS?!?! Now we won't be able to steal all those 2nd rounders. All our secrets are gonna be out there. Good luck, Gersson, but....DALLAS??
Good news. Now Morey has more and more trading partners to work with instead of making all his deals with Suns and Kings.
Wouldn't be shocked, and if not him someone like a Zach Lowe or other writer with a heavy analytical background could be an option. Somewhat similar to what the Astros did with Mike Fast and Kevin Goldstein. Find talented people that are not on the radar for a lot of the industry. Another point to be made is that while these kind of hires hurt us in the short term but there is some nice long term benefit because it makes jobs in the Rockets FO very appealing to people who want to advance. That is going to allow us to cast a wide net looking for their replacements ala the McHale hiring when we interviewed a ton of people.
They all got job promotions, so hard to blame them.* That said, still hate to see them leave. *Except Macha who was let go and maybe Nelson Luis, who left for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
So if the Mavs didn't have a GM, who was making all of those moves signing FAs and pursuing D12? Seems like they should've brought on a GM before free agency so that he could, well... Do what a GM does. This is around the time where GMs show you what they're worth.
Exactly. I'm sure he keeps tabs on executive talent as much as he does basketball talent. As to why people would leave when we're a contender, well as an assistant-type executive, your stock is not going to get much higher than post-Harden, post-Howard. The executive work is kind of done, in a way. now it's up to coach, luck, and players to get to postseason success. And the job probably isn't as interesting once you achieve these huge acquisition goals.
Dennis was a CD guy; from Baylor. He was set to take over for CD as GM but Les handpicked Morey as the GM successor. So don't think he has warm fuzzies about Morey; ie a willing trade partner.
