Hey guys I am buying a new car tomorrow. A 2013 toyota camry se in black to be exact. My question to you guys out there is how much should I pay for this car? Does anyone on here own this car? How much did you pay for it? If you don't mind sharing.
1. Get a temp email addy 2. Send every Houston dealership a quote request 3. For the top three bids, send a second request, this time for a drive out price This should give you the best price in town.
Go to www.truecar.com, and put in your exact model and features. You can then see what other people paid. I have the feeling that website inflates the prices a little, so your target is usually to beat the recommended price.
Truecar is pretty awesome. Gives you a better idea than KBB. I'd also rate Edmunds over KBB. I've used it for my 2 most recent car purchases (I also checked other sites and listings). I'm never after the best possible deal. I'm after a good deal. I bought a 2013 Civic in February. Paid $18,000 for it. I love it.
Invoice on the SE is $21,294 - MSRP $23,400 I'd start bargaining at 20 grand, wouldn't pay more then about 500 over invoice.
get the black book value for the car that way you can see the true invoice price with all the features and options you want and then bargain up from there. definitely email a few popular dealerships towards the last weekend of the month and then try to get them to sell AFTER the last weekend (so during the week) - see fi you can speak to the fleet manager - try to get them to agree on a FINAL price (including whatever taxes and dmv) fees before you even step foot in the dealership. if you have access to a fax - ask themt o fax you a quote - makes you seem a bit more serious and professional -- if you dont have a fax you can get a free trial on efax -- leverage dealerships against each other the best price but dont keep going back and forth with them - just do it twice at most. OH and whatever you do if you quality for ANY factory rebates or deals DO NOT TELL THEM until you come in with a settled price. Factory rebates come from the factory not the dealership so they will still get their money back regardless but they will factor this into the sales price before if you tell them so they actually make more of a profit off of you. if they argue its a factory rebate and most importantly be prepared to walk out of the dealership without the car and go elsewhere if they do not agree. if they are trying to meet their sales goals by end of month they'll bend over backwards for you. also sept is usually when they have the best factory deals since they want to clear stock for new models
I'm glad this thread popped up. I'm buying a 2013 Nissan Altima today. Some good advice in this thread.
