How do I increase my vertical?

    If you can't touch the rim yet that means you are still at least 7 inches short of dunking, probably more.

    You can do stuff to help, but jumping is more of an innate ability. Trim all the fat you can, 10 pounds of fat is like wearing 10 pound weights. Concentrate entirely on lower body and core workouts, you want tone not mass. Stretching really helps also.

    Don't get your hopes up. I could touch the rim, but despite my best efforts never could dunk.

    Yeah, thanks. I'm working on trimming fat off my body. In addition to lifting weights at the gym to gain more muscle, I am also planning on jogging on a fairly consistent basis.

    I would jump rope or run stairs. Work on stretching and strengthening your calves.

    I did Air Alert when I was in high school and it probably helped me increase my vertical by about six to eight inches.

    You didn't mention how old you are, but you are way short of dunking. You need to improve your strength to weight ratio by a lot. The best way to do that is squats.

    Why don't more people do it? Because squats are hard and lifting heavy weight is intimidating. HTFU and get it done. (please seek assistance from professionals to get started)

    Working out your calves is highly overrated. All they do is move the ankle and knee joint, but power comes from the hip. Start there.

    Still got a pair from the late 90s. I don't know how much my vertical increased but I got quicker and more explosive for football.
