I do believe the term Superstar is thrown around way too much, especially when the media still thinks Bosh is a superstar. However, at this point in their careers Harden is better than Kobe, but he will need one more season to solidify that in everyone's mind. I have always been a Kobe fan, but I am also a realist, and as of now what 2 guard would you take for the next 3-5 years above Harden, that's in the league right now? To say that Dwight isn't a superstar is just absurd, look at the circus that follows him. People and the media hang on his every word and every action, nobody is creating memes or crucifying Brandon Jennings at the ESPYs. Dwight is a polarizing figure.
You lose all credibility with this nonsense. Only fellow delusional Lin fans will read this and think you have any idea what you are talking about.
Very interesting topic I think Dwight WAS a superstar before at Orlando but not anymore. However, I hope he can regain his status as a superstar Harden is not there yet but he has the opportunity to become one in given time as he matures and further develops his game
When Harden was in Oklahoma City he was a pretty good defender. This past season dude concentrated more on the offensive side and slept half the time on defense. Ive seen plenty of players do this, ex: Tracy McGrady, Harden, Melo, Pierce, CP3, Joe Johnson and etc etc etc. I hope this season now that we have Howard, Harden will play better defense.
Who gives a S$%???? As other coherent non-troll posters have noted there is no real way to quantify what measure you need to achieve in order to have the status superstar. By all accounts all that a superstar simply would be is a combination of being really good at NBA basketball (obviously an all-star) & being MARKETABLE nationally. Both Dwight and Harden are all-stars and very marketable. Nobody cares about your "higher standards" YOU might place on what is a superstar vs. just a good player.
Take James out of the Rockets last year, I give them maybe 30 wins. Having said that, I think there are only like 2 or 3 "superstars" in the league. A bunch of stars are in the league for sure but we are talking a Superstar. A guy that can say "I will put you all on my back, I got this" and will demand the ball to get them there. James is definitely budding into one. He had some great glimpses this past year (Heat game where he took over in Miami at the end, setting up his teammates and hitting big shot after big shot. (Shame on that stupid charge call when he drove into Chalmers at the end though)).
Harden played defense in spurts. And he was not taking over the PG duties. LOL I guess Lebron, Wade, Melo, Kobe, and Durant took over the PG duties as well huh. I guess Tracy, Manu, MJ, Pippen and the list goes on took over the PG duties as well.. LOL
Harden played badly in the playoffs against the Heat. That clearly shows that he is one of the worst players in the NBA.
Harden is only 24. Give him more time He has the ability to be a lock down defender and with Dwight now, I am sure he will pass the ball more
I cant agree any more with you. I don't understand why so many people on this board are being so pessimistic. I understand that they don't want to be disappointed by having high expectations but some posters on here are severely underrating this team. Sometimes I wonder if they actually are rockets fans.
Yeah any player who has trouble scoring at a high level when Lebron James makes it a mission to take him out of the game seriously just isn't star caliber at all... On top of that, he has a slight beer belly in July... what a scrub.
Dwight was in the finals and was primary option, harden wasn't primary option but he played a huge role
LMA is a pipe dream, the Rockets have 2 good young PF's, why get your hopes up about something that will never happen?
Pimp'n you can't argue with people who just started watching basketball when Lin came in the league... You know better. Lol.
Harden's not a superstar yet, because last year TC was still half empty. I don't know about DH, I'm not an Orlando fan. Superstars=box office, we'll know when the season starts.
I think before Dwight was injured and Durant took a step to the next level, he was widely considered the second best player in the league. If healthy, he is still easily in the the top 5. Is Harden a superstar? Well, he's arguably the top player at his position. He's arguably a top 15 player. He's one of the league's best scorers. And, his presence lured in another superstar. I think we can safely say they're both superstars.
