Scola Hayes and Landry didn't snag the free-agent center of the decade.

    I win.

If you think Howard's decision is mostly based on Chandler's daily text, my suggestion is: Give more credit to Morey and Harden.

you guys are on crack if you dont think parsons can get 10 mill a year on the open market.

he can easily get batum's contract.

those of you who think he cant get it are delusional.

he can get that with the quickness.

Batum was way overpaid by a terrible gm, and then portland matched it. And the contracts for that caliber of player as this offseason showed is right down. The other side of that is that Parsons doesn't want to go to a **** team, as he has non basketball related assets to cash in on the exposure of playing on a contender (plus from reports, he really really wants to win).

The formula for winning a championship in the NBA is to acquire as talent on your team as possible. Some of you seem to forget that LMA brings defense at the 4 position that we simply don't have. Add that to the fact the he can also play back up 5 and that he can stretch the floor on offense and I don't understand why anyone would be against it.

I have to agree. He's a great player, but Morey would dump him in a second if it meant he could get a 3rd superstar.

But most likely he won't have to as I feel both Lin and Asik will be gone by then.

I think he is more proven at defense than anyone else we currently have at the 4.

    fair enough.

LMA is still an average to below average defender. not his strong suit.

    that's wishful thinking. very wishful.

parsons can easily get batum's contract.

Because that's short-term thinking. Whether or not Parsons played a major role, what you can't deny is he's now one of Howard buddies on the team. What kind of rep do you think the Rox will have not just on Howard, but on the rest of the players if they shipped Parsons out after his much publicized Dhoward campaign? Howard didn't sign a lifetime contract, he only signed for 3 years. The players aren't blind or deaf to social media, that kind of behavior will spread like wildfire.

Look at what happened to Chicago when Krause ran MJ and PJ out of town, the most capspace in the league and yet both Tmac and TD turned him down.

Plus this kind of BS will kill any sort of chemistry the team has. Parsons is best buds with almost everyone on the squad trading him right before the season after he bust his butt trying to get DH will destroy the team inside out.

    Just for comparison sake:

    Iggy - 12 mil
    Batum - 11 mil
    Deng - 14 mil
    Thadeus Young - 9 mil
    Gallinari - 10 mil
    Prince - 7 mil
    CP25 - ?

Those guys are the group of Small Forwards that I put CP25 with that are no longer on a rookie contract. The average of those guys are 10.5 million a season.

Here is where they rank statistically amongst themselves in various categories:

    Points Per Game
    Deng - 16.5
    Gallo - 16.2
    CP25 - 15.5
    Young - 14.8
    Batum - 14.3
    Iggy - 13
    Prince - 10.4

    Field Goal Percentage

    Young - .531
    CP25 - .486
    Iggy - .451
    Prince - .438
    Deng - .426
    Batum - .423
    Gallo - .418

    3 Point Percentage
    Prince - .404
    CP25 - .385
    Gallo - .373
    Batum .372
    Deng - .322
    Iggy - .317
    Young - .125

    Free Throw Percentage
    Batum - .848
    Gallo - .822
    Deng -.816
    Prince - .738
    CP25 - .729
    Young - .574
    Iggy .574

    Rebounds Per Game
    Young - 7.5
    Deng 6.3
    Batum 5.6
    CP25 - 5.3
    Iggy - 5.3
    Gallo - 5.2
    Prince - 4.4

    Steals Per Game
    Young - 1.75
    Iggy - 1.74
    Batum - 1.24
    Deng - 1.08
    CP25 - .99
    Gallo - 0.90
    Prince - .55

    Assists Per Game
    Iggy - 5.4
    Batum - 4.9
    CP25 - 3.5
    Deng - 3.0
    Gallo - 2.5
    Prince - 2.4
    Young - 1.6

Some guys on the list are better than others but at the end of the day they are all plus defenders. The one guy on the list I might have some pause in calling a good defender is Gallo, but every time I watched Denver last year he showed up on defense.

The point is, CP25 is in that group production wise, he is a plus defender and he is younger than anyone on that list outside of Batum, which means he is still improving. Fegan will pound all of those points home including the significant role CP25 played in recruiting D12.

If those players are over paid is another discussion but the market price is what it is. Yesterday I thought 10 million a year was on the high side but if CP25 maintains those numbers or improves upon them even a little, I could absolutely see him getting what Iggy got (12 million 1st year). If CP25 becomes a 50/40/80 guy then watch out because 12 million a year might not do it. Chandler is a 49/39/73 player right now so 50/40/80 is certainly not out of the realm of possibility.

What kind of contract would these numbers earn?
    PPG - 16
    FG% - .500
    3PT% - .400
    FT% - .800
    APG - 4.0
    RPG - 5.5
    SPG - 1.2

Add to the fact that he is a plus defender and those are boarder line all-star stats and the scary thing is that those are almost his stats from last season! That puts Chandler in a class as one of the absolute if not the best complimentary / role player in the league.

Year 3 is when most players improve the most. This year coming up is Chandlers 3rd year. He will be 25 when the season starts which means he is just now starting to enter his physical prime. With both Harden and D12 on the floor, he should have more wide open shots and when he drives to the basket the defenders will hesitate leaving D12 open for a lob. His efficiency rating could be off of the charts this season.

Do Harden and Dwight deserve to be called "Superstars"? They are All-stars, and I mgiht even agree that Harden can be a Superstar offensively, but from an all-around game perspective, Harden is not there yet. Dwight also is not a Superstar because his offensive game is not quite up there yet. It seems like people use the Superstar too generously. Note I agree they are All-stars. As far as I know, no team in NBA has 3 Superstars.

Per game averages comparison are flawed since not every team plays at the same pace.

Also, if I could get Batum, I would take Batum over Chandler Parson any day; that Batum guy can be an All-Star. I would also take Leonard of Spurs over Chandler Parson any day. However, if Parsons does ever make an All-Star, I would be very impressed, but I definitely see a greater likelihood of Batum and Leonard being All-Stars than Parsons.

You need to use per36 numbers. Some of those guys did not play as many minutes as Chandler.

Of course not. I'm just saying the importance of Parsons recruiting DH is way overrated. Other factors might have played a bigger role. Howard might not be a Rocket without Morey constructing a young, solid team with cap space, Harden being a young and upcoming star, MDA staying as Lakers coach, Kobe saying he'll play at least 3 more years etc.
