The fact that he signed a 1 year minimum contract is evidence that he isn't valued in the league. The fact that Morey didn't pay him something extra to get him to sign for a 2nd or 3rd year is evidence that the Rockets don't think that much of his game.

Nobody is doing 40-yard dash tests on veteran NBA players so we don't know how his speed compares to what it was in 2009, but there are 30 NBA teams spending a lot of energy and money on player evaluation who have decided not to offer him more than a minimum wage contract.

What evidence do you have that he's as good and as valuable as he was a few years ago?

I don't agree with DD's stretch. He is perfect as a bench player atm. He probably isn't the same player as in 09, but he can still be damn good.

THe poster I was arguing specifically brought up 09-11 and "Prime," and it is hard to argue that AB was a very good player then.

ahh typical Clutchfans, too nostalgic and believes in our own hype =) just like the time when Stevie Franchise returned to the Rockets or how we overrated the likes of Joey Dorsey, Terrence Williams, Royce White, Stromile Swift just to name a few

and very typical clutchfans who crucify our guards, remember the hate Rafer, Luther, Mark Jackson, Rod Strickland, Moochie and even Franchise got in this part of the woods

Just enjoy the ride folks.....I can't wait for the season to end so this bickering would stop as well

You don't know what NBA teams offered him nor what he decided to take.

I have no evidence that he is as valuable as he used to be, just that Morey found him valuable and he has a great history of finding undervalued talent.

The end of the season should tell us a lot, and how instumental Brooks will be in the playoffs if Lin is still here and chokes again.

After the first wave of free (sic) agency most contracts are like this. DM the assistant GM needn't sign AB for longer as he will have Early Bird at season's end (right, according to BT).

What would a Thread look like if the Rox acquired by any means a high rotation, starter perhaps, player?

I do know that NBA teams offered him because he said other teams offered him the minimum:

If somebody had offered him $3M/yr for 2+ years you really think he'd turned down that money?

    this **** again...

I wonder what it would take to get Lowry back? Other than a different head coach.

Incidentally, Brooks is also an undersized tweener combo guard.

OK. It was hard to determine that based on what you posted.

As I said no one knows the entire story as to why Brooks signed here other than Brooks and Morey.

We, the Rockets fans, are lucky to have him, no matter what role he plays.

This is bs. Of course he is a starting caliber point guard. He just spent a year doing it for a squad that made the playoffs and was, by money's own measurement, third or tied third in win shares. It was his first full starting season and he clearly improved over the course of the season. He may not be top 10 or even top 15 among point guards but he is clearly starting quality. Saying something else is just stupid and weakens your arguments.

I like Lin a lot - he works hard, he's humble, and he has shown a lot of flashes -38 point game, multiple 20 and near 10 games, etc. give me a better point guard or pf in exchange for lin, and I'll take them, but there's no need to say something that's not true. Don't blame Lin for his fans or his haters.

The bolded statement is important. Lin's fans on this board are generally awful and annoying. Let's not let them color our perception of Lin, who is a lightning quick, high IQ guard with upside. He needs to cut down on turnovers and improve his shooting, but he's definitely one of our more dynamic scoring PGs in recent memory.

AB would get a lot more offers at more than minimum if he still has that motor to pass by opponent PG easily. That was his biggest attribute when he was with Rockets the first time. His defense can't be any worse than he was before, his regular season 3pt% shooting is still there, and we haven't heard him being a locker room cancer.

The only logical explanation for AB's contract situation right now is he lost his speed.

Speed is so vital in today's NBA. Linsanity would never have happened if he wasn't so fast. Any Lin played like a complete scrub when he didn't have full speed at the beginning of the season.

Now that we seem to be legitimately looking at 19-seasons-played Camby with a full roster, I wouldn't even be surprised if Maloney came up in rumors. :p

Maybe he can play a Steve Kerr type roll for us? Just come off the bench and hit open kick out threes?

Also one thing to realize that it's often not his fans that are making things bad but trolls that pretend to be his fans. If you look at the history of their posts they're very consistent in how they troll.

I think Lin detractors are quick to point out any evidence of him playing badly and the LOFs always go back to Linsanity.

Stating he choked in the playoffs is a misguided statement. He essentially played one bad game because he didn't play in the others or was hurt and tried to play. If he's healthy and plays an entire series and stinks it's a fair statement but as of now it's not.

The fact he was pulled off the journeyman tras heap after having been waived multiple times and a pit stop in China is a red flag.

    Franchise alpha dog.
