What do you think the teams Payroll Budget will be?

  1. Up to the Salary Cap

    10.1%
  2. Up to the Tax Threshold

    24.6%
  3. Up to the Tax Apron

    29.7%
  4. Over the Tax Apron

    35.5%

    $16 != $8 + $8

Especially when you're limited to 5 players on the court at once and even more especially in this case when the $16 is a max salary limited player.

Now if you want to argue that LMA isn't a max player (meaning he's value exceeds his salary) then that's a different debate.

It would be good to have LMA, but this big 3 stuff is overated, The heat have the best 1,2 punch in the league with LeBron and wade. Bosh is like Rich man Omer Asik. Rockets need to save some money for some good role players, and a good sixth man, what I think...

    Thanks Deuce,

Do you think there could be any sort of pre existing agreement between DM and Fegan regarding Chandler as a result of the D12 negotiations? We heard a lot about how Fegan did not want Dwight in Houston. Any chance DM told Fegan to cooperate with bringing Dwight to Houston and DM will be more cooperative next summer with Chandler?

Maybe I'm conspiracy theorist at heart but that scenario is something I've thought about.

My question is: why is Parsons so important if Rockets have 3 superstars?

I think its more than likely we can get a 3rd star like LMA AND LOVE, and keep parsons at $7-9 million a year. Anything over $million will be a stretch, in that case hopefully they do a sign and trade to get pieces back to build around the 3 stars.

To all the homers, PARSONS is expendable, and its not even close... Dont get it twisted though, i would love to keep him for the right price.

I personally do not see D.Morey going into TAX territory, even if the inciteful quotes speak other wise.

He was the chief reason why D12 was convinced to join the Rockets.

If you have any shred of honor you'd repay that in spades.

Besides the fact that even if we had 3 superstars that doesn't mean Parsons isn't one or will be one soon.

I would not take Batum - anyone thats followed Batum and his team understands how inconsistent they have been as players. Its a big reason why LMA would leave ~ while everyone else is forming powerhouses, he can choose to spend the next half decade trying to find pieces to make the team go or he can go for a championship with a team like the Rockets or elsewhere.

it would handicap the ability to sign role players if minimum salary contract players weren't good enough.

that's why im against the 3 stars thing. the stars also get their role diminished and they aren't worth their contract.

Superstars generally average more than 13 and 6. Lin is a good player. Not a superstar.

I get what you are saying but you also have to take into account for how many minutes each of the starters were playing. That was a major cause of the inconsistencies. Portland had the worst bench in the NBA. But yes, he was inconsistent early on in his NBA career but this last year was a coming out party in a way for him (Before he injured his wrist).

Only b/c they had LBJ. Not b/c they also overpaid Wade and especially Bosh.

Morey will let Chandler go into restricted free agency next summer so that he can sign him to a more reasonable deal.

based on past history, like with lowry and and allowing the russian to sniff luifa's hair, i'd say yeah he'd do that.

but this is chandler! i'm thinking some gm might throw every penny in his money bin to get chandler.

Honor/Loyalty doesn't exist in NBA, otherwise Scola, Hayes, Landry would still be on this team.

Honestly I don't see Chandler has superstar talent. He was a very good fit on offense for the team last season, that's about it.

why do you need 3? here, dwight and harden would be your constant guys, as in they will give you 20 plus 95% of the time. Parsons and lin can go off against any body on any given night, as they showed last season. Chandler, however, he is also going to become one of those constant guys, dropping 18 a game. that's basically what a third super star will do. the third one always sacrifices points. If you acquired lamarcus, one would have to be doing cocaine to think he'd average 21 points here. Then what's the purpose? we already have guys that can fill it up.

There are tons of glue guys in NBA. Parsons is nice, but totally replaceable if Rokects have 3 superstars.

Why do I need 3? Because I read the thread title.

Personally I don't think a 3rd superstar is required to win a Championship, but I think if Rockets happens to get 3 superstars, any role player is replaceable. No need to worry about how to afford all of them.

And BTW, I don't put Harden into superstar category if he plays defense like he did last season.

He has the talent and ability, but need more effort on the other end of the floor to become a true superstar.
