ah he left because we blew up the roster, and weren't a contender (or even really expected to win 35 games)

About the same as LMA, below average.

But that 3pt shot is sick though.

Personally, I don't see it as an either/or with Camby and Asik. I think they can definitely co-exist, mostly because Camby can play the backup 4 as well as the 5. IIRC he has a pretty good outside shot and is a great passer. And the Camby/Asik or Camby/Howard combo on the defensive side should be pretty sick.

The only problem is his age, but the contract will probably be very reasonable.

Sounds promising that the Rockets will be able to get Camby for the vet min. I think that's a solid get. He is what he is. Good vet influence and can play some spot minutes to anchor the defens. If the Rockets move Asik and do not get a center in return then Camby is a good stop gap backup C for the season.

How much does he have left in the tank? Can he give us 15 minutes a night? That would make Asik kinda expendable - if not, why would we want him? With Asik and Smith we have 2 players that can fill this role...

About the same as when Mutombo joined the Rockets. Look for similar contributions from Camby.

Camby will definitely skew the average team age number though. Get him and we are no longer the youngest team at anything.

Camby was literally a bench warmer last season.

I wonder how he really is, health wise.

Mutombo Jean Jacques Wamutombo had superior stats even at Age 50 or
    30 on his home planet.

That's my concern as well. He was fantastic for us the year before last, but at some point he's gonna decline quickly and I wonder if last year wasn't the beginning of the end for Camby. We certainly don't need him with the current makeup of our roster, but at the vet minimum, it'd be hard not to bring a man of his height, talent, and track-record aboard.

His veteran presence will still help. Remember when they traded for him last year? Morey or somebody said the atmosphere in the locker room was basically night and day with him.

Two years ago Camby lead the league in rebounding rate. Old as he is, the guy still has an enormous impact on wins.

Remember that NY has Mike Woodson and we have Kevin McHale and is hiring Hakeem Olajuwon so we can better develop and use Camby's talents as a big man.

Kevin McHale or Mike Woodson? Day and night in my book. Using Moreys input McHale has quickly become one of the finer coaches in the NBA.

I am not that concerned about his talents. More his stamina, durability and health profile.

    Wait, what?

McHale and the phrase "one of the finer coaches in the NBA" must have been an error on your part.;)

I think Morey has created a great roster. McHale is still average at best. Within his time as a coach, he hasn't done anything spectacular. This season was great, but it had much more to do with James Harden.

We'll see what he's made of this year. I am hoping that he stands up a little more, looks a bit more involved, shows a face of confidence in timeouts etc...

I'm also hoping for less of the clapping as a substitution for leadership.

This is McHale's real test as a coach. He has the players to succeed, but we'll see if he has the mind, flexibility and trust/loyalty/investment of his players to help take us beyond the 2nd round.
