Barkely is such a smart guy, nothing like the character he plays on TNT.

I will admit that anytime Jimmy Carter and Charles Barkley have the exact same take on a complex issue, I find that resonance pretty compelling.

Two smart guys coming from completely different perspectives (well, except that they're both southern).

Your discussion of the situation has been very level headed and I believe well thought out.

All I would add to the whole situation is that people are seeing what they want to see. We really do not know what happened, and that is part of why this case contines to be discussed. People can draw their own conclusions and feel strongly they are right.

tweets aren't news. They aren't worthy of discussion especially when they are non-controversial tweets that don't say anything against Republicans, Democrats, liberals or conservatives.

This case continues to be discussed because a lot of black racist just can't seem to let it go. If they had anywhere close to the same passion for black on black crime/homicide this world would be a better place. Instead they single out this tragic situation and dwell on it because they see everything through racially divided lines and just can't accept that this situation, though terribly tragic, had nothing to do with race.

What does this even mean ? Was Obama a wannabe thug at 17 ? Was he continually suspended from school , was his main hobby " whoop ass " ? Was he ever caught with his backpack full of womens jewlery and burglary tools ?

lol!! So what do my religious beliefs have to do with this????? I post the truth and you try to tear me down based on my religious beliefs. Very typical. I am happy to admit that I put 100% faith in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and no liberal will ever change that.

    Couldn't have said it better.

This case is being used by everyone..including Obama for their own agenda. There are hundreds of kids being killed and raped everyday..I don't see anyone caring this much.

I want to throw something out there, maybe so one has asked. If everything happened the same (even though we still don't know exactly how the fight started), and Zimmerman pulls his gun. If Trayvon was able to grabbed the gun and Zimmerman is killed, what happens? Trayvon feared for his life and struggled over the gun and George was killed. Is that self-defense? Is that "Stand Your Ground"? How much you wanna bet if that happened, Trayvon would have been convicted of 2nd degree murder?

No, that isn't self defense. You cannot put someone else in reasonable fear of imminent death or great bodily and then kill him when he tries to defend himself. All of this stuff was covered earlier in the thread.

Appears that Martin was either involved in break ins or had friends who were ( he claimed the stuff was given to him ) It's not a stretch to imagine that Martin may have actually been casing homes in the complex that night .

Zimmerman put Martin in imminent fear by confronting him.
