[Feigen] Harden and Howard want Asik and Lin to stay

The players saying they want Asik and Lin to stay may be no more than what they had to say. Can anybody really see team members saying they don't want them to stay? Or trying to avoid the question even?

Now, what I believe is yes, they want them to stay. But within the context that they would also say they want to play with LMA, Love, Ryan Anderson, or some other piece that one or both could be potentially traded for.

What nobody is saying directly is "don't trade" Asik or Lin. No one is saying they have to be here to want to play for Houston. No one is implying they part of our core or untouchable.

So what they have said has context. And what they haven't said may have more meaning that what they did say.

 

yea right, like that ever happened. "ok Morey, I'll sign, but I want to make sure Asik and Lin stay, " otherwise I'm not coming. lol That was just a lot of PR bull**** in order to not have Dwight looking like the bad guy again.

As I've said earlier, Lin and Asik are the only players to have a salary that allows some kind of trade (when Harden and Dwight obviously are the untouchables). The others have a minimum salary and it's hard to see that you can trade anything with that. So in any meaningful trade (for a significant player) Lin and/or Asik will be on the block.

 

I don't buy this. He hasn't even played with them yet. How would he know? I think Howard knows how important a sidekick big is, like Gortat was. Plus, Lin does have some intriguing skills that COULD be complementary, such as his speed and penetration ability. His shooting is shaky, but he has quick hands and is a perfect suit for the transition game and forcing defenses to have to make fast decisions.

 

in a 3 team trade, because Lin would be a backup if not. And what would be the point of the trade for the Blazers. They would need a PF, Asik, 1st round pik, some int'l draft rights, and maybe even a back up PG, especially since we have 3 now.

 

put lin on the bench to run the PnR with asik

WHOEVER! With hands down the best BIG 3 in the league, all PG has to do is bring the ball up and give it to one of them, then spot up and get ready to catch and shoot. Even AB can do that just fine.

Not saying the trade will happen. But if miracle happens, who freaking cares who's our starting PG???!!!

Think what the picture shown there will make both camps very happy. The pic to me says it more clearly than anything that has been said by anyone to date and it says that the Rockets have a new future plan and that plan does not include Lin and Asik.

That link doesnt show much but if you're talking about the homepage then yes, I agree it does show that they are removing Lin from the lineup from a marketing perspective.
