    What's the thinking behind holding people against their will like this?? What kind of pleasure can someone possibly take in holding a 70 year old man captive?? Even if it is to get his veteran/social security checks.....I just don't understand this. If you're responsible for something this heinous, how can you even look at yourself in the mirror? Rat scum of the Earth, man.

    We complain about our lack of privacy and our surveillance society yet we have things like this and the Cleveland situation.

    I am not saying we should reduce our privacy but am just thinking out loud about how people can hold others captive for 10 years without anyone else knowing about it in the 21st Century.

    Maybe we should reduce our privacy.

    The problem is always WHO's making the decisons. If it was the general populace making informed decision and its not based on irrational fear, its more begrudgingly acceptable. And has to be self operated by citizens only. Expanded neighor'herd' watch.

    But even then when you start thinking of the abuses, it can seem harrowing.

    I can be for having security cameras in every corner and google earth'ing eye in the sky. And people still have their freedom of movement. Look the boston marathon bombing. Cameras just WORK. Without it they might still be unfound. It was a triumph of justice, not intrusion at all.

    Though chips and bar codes, much more invasive. Thats a sure feeling that you dont even belong to you.

    But yeah thats the only way to both deter bad people from trying it. And only way to discover captives after incident.

    (And of course no one cares about the old people in the news, only the young girls)

    Am I reading this right? Is this in Houston or foreign country??? Maybe our city is disguised as just your large metropolis city in America but behind the curtains, something evil is lurking beyond the pines???
