Amazing that the Bobcats traded that asset for Tyrus Thomas....who they just amnestied. #golfclap

EDIT: dobro1229, good analysis of the suitors and available assets for LMA.

I think Chicago could get LMA.

Amnesty boozer, send gibson, and a few firsts.

Still doesn't make sense to deal Parsons when Howard attributed him as one of the major reasons he came to Houston. You want to keep your stars happy, no?

Should the Rockets pursue a trade, who/what would we be willing to give up in return? I can't imagine an Asik/Lin package would entice Portland. Trade Howard!! ;)

It would take LA and Lillard for that to happen.

No. Asik AND Parsons is giving up too much for a player that is requesting a trade.

The Rockets are in the drivers seat so why would we overpay when we dont have to?

    We dont NEED LMA.....

He would be great to have, but it's MUCH better to have Asik backing up Howard WITH Parsons at SF for us, than to just have LMA.

We are stacked and have ZERO need to bail teams out unless it benefits us.

Trading away Asik and Parsons for a player that already said he wants out is giving away too much AND not improving your overall team.

Add LMA but lose an up and coming SF along with a top 5 C that so happens to be a back up?

    Eh....pass.

Don't touch Parsons! Parsons stays or else (not sure what that would be, but there must be something I could do).

Besides the fact that you can play wait and see and if Jones or DMo breaks out.....your patience paid off.

We are not the ones in dire need so why make a move trading away Parsons in haste?

Jones or DMo could end up being just a good as LMA in 2 or 3 years.

Has there been a single inclination on the Rockets side of even being interested in acquiring Aldridge? Let's think about this:

    1) As of 1/31/13, Aldridge had taken the most mid range shots in the league. He doesn't hit them at a particularly great rate either. The Rockets don't do mid-range, philosophically speaking.

    2) LMA's strength is in the post. According to Synergy Sports, he had 540 post-up plays that ended in his own shot, a turnover, or a drawn foul. He was ranked 22nd on ppp @ 0.94, which is pretty impressive given his volume. This is where I can see the Rockets being intrigued, but we also just went out and got a guy in Dwight Howard who was excellent when surrounded by shooters, not so much when playing next to Pau Gasol in the frontcourt.

    3) He makes max money and would require valuable assets to pry loose. I just don't see the Rockets wanting to tie up $50MM/year in 3 guys by adding a glorified jumpshooter as the third guy. He takes more long twos, Morey's well-documented least favorite shot, than anyone else in the league. He went 2-13 on 3PGA last season.

I don't see the Rockets management viewing him as the "perfect fit" that many posters here think of him as. I think Clutchfans overrates him due to his play against the Rockets (he scored 25 more points against Houston last year than any other team, and shot 56% against us) and because he went to UT, where many of the Rockets fans here cheered him on.

Why spend the money and assets on a guy like Aldridge, when you can go out and get an Ilyasova for half the cost? They are similar defenders and rebounders (Ilyasova's TRB% was 13.9% to Aldridge's 14%). Ilyasova however can hit the 3 ball at an amazing rate. He hit 46.4% from 3 off the pick-n-pop, and hit 41.5% from 3 on spot-up attempts. He is, in my eyes, the perfect fit for the Rockets offense.

How Morey should approach it is simple...

We have Asik, one of either Jones or DMo, Bev...a 2016 1st and 2 2nds...

    Anything beyond that is overpaying....

HE asked to be traded which immediately lowers his trade value as is.

Yeah, I don't see Aldridge as the player that would put us over the hump. We would need someone that could space the floor even more, like Love could and still run with the team.

He should be close to it. If Parsons keeps improving he will likely be an $8-12MM player by the time his contract is up but his cap hold is so low that we can use our cap space elsewhere and then sign him to a bigger deal. The only way you trade Parsons in a deal is if all of our PFs turn out to be busts and you can't get a player that paired with Parsons won't be greater than LMA. A combination of Anderson and Parsons is better than just LMA.

why would they even want parsons when they got somebody better in battun playing the 3. They wont trade LA here, they may like asik, but not enough to give LA for him. We dont really have nothing to offer that they need.

Couldn't Aldridge be our main offensive weapon off the bench but still averaging 30+ minutes a game?
