Seconded. I'll be watching non national games at McElroy's though. Side note: I moved a month ago and I had the choice to go with any provider and chose dish because of the hopper. I had uverse before and I gotta say, I'm loving dish. The hopper is pretty t***.
Every time I see this thread bumped I hope there is some resolution... I actually enjoyed listening to games on the radio again last season. You get more done then just sitting there watching TV. I also will never get Comcast. They had a bad rep coming into Houston and have just made things worse.
It sucks, but if this is what will happen for the lifetime of the deal, then I guess I'll have to deal with streams for the rest of the life term. I will absolutely not switch to comcast. There is no reason I should have to deal with them. I am extremely disappointed in the Rockets. I wish the NBA would put some sort of rule that if you have a franchise in X city, then the residents of this city should all have the option of being able to view the game.
Agreed. Absolutely decimating their fan bases. If this keeps going these franchises will be so irrelevant to the majority of the city.
Since a MUCH bigger portion of the city cares about the Texans, this could never happen. (Setting aside that the the NFL has the tv situation handled much differently and couldn't happen anyway)
My disgust right now is at an all time high. Talk about being painted into a corner . . . If only League Pass would lift its blackout rule, then there would be an alternative. The irony is that I could move to New York or Miami and watch the Rockets on League Pass, but not in my team's home town of Houston. I would gladly subscribe to League Pass if that were an option; but no, it's CSN or nothing. (Ironically, this happens at a time when the Feds make it their mission to crack down on streaming content. That's one more knot in the rope.) Yes, we have a choice. One choice. Take it or leave it. Once again, it's the fans that get crapped on — the same fans who shell out tax money to subsidize the venues where these teams play. I really am grateful that the Rockets go the extra mile to put a winner out on the floor, unlike many of the perpetual losers out there, those lottery turnstiles that suck in talent and money every year and give back nothing. However, and this is a big Stephen A Smith "HOWEVAAH", being a part of this enterprise that separates fans from the team they love is rotten to the core. I'm really glad the "NBA Cares" and that they do work for the betterment of the community on an ongoing basis, but the next time you see some PR fluff piece about a player reading books to some underprivileged kid with a terrible affliction, ask yourself "Is that kid a Comcast subscriber?" If he ever gets well and his parents get back on their feet, can he watch the Rockets on TV and connect with them like many of us did as kids? There is a 60% chance he won't be able to. It just sours everything and makes all the good seem disingenuous. This could go on for years. There are die-hard Rockets fans in this town who are in their 80s. I suppose they should just "wait this thing out". Like everyone else here, I am a true chump and I will not abandon the Rockets for anything. I love baseball as well, though, so I'll make that my sacrificial lamb. Screw the Astros.
It wouldn't be pure ala-carte since you'd have to buy a broadband service subscription. Those companies would agree on the rates for the channels. If they out price the consumer, nobody buys it. I bet I could squeeze all the channels I actually watch well under my current bill. At least you'd be able to make the decision or yourself, rather than depend on an absolute from the provider.
Any Rockets fans living in DFW/SA/ATX know if you can get the Rockets games via League Pass in those cities or will the games be blacked out as well?
Like what? Something important? It could all still be out there. Hell, the app community has zillions of ala-carte programs that are more readily available in this model rather than the old "software bundle" feature. Most people stream the shows they like/watch without giving a crap about what else is on the channel.
CAn anyone answer this for me?? I just recently moved to Austin, and I'm curious if the games are blacked out here on League Pass too? Everyone here loves the Spurs for some odd reason, and they get most of the air time? So if I buy league pass, can I watch the games???
