Drummond is not the 2nd or 3rd best post defender in the league. For long term upside, I can buy it, but right now Asik gives any team a better chance to win.

What ghe said had nothing to do with what Detroit were doing, l2read

Although no one really has a clue what Detroit are doing, they did just sign Josh Smith and Chauncey Billups.

I'm open to dealing Parsons, but I do agree with you that an Aldridge trade makes more sense for us at the deadline than it does in the offseason. At the deadline, we'll know (1) if Jones or Motie have stepped up or not (2) if Howard and Asik can co-exist.

If the sophomores don't step up and Howard/Asik isn't working, we have a high need for a trade for a proven power forward and motivated to make the trade, and likely more willing to throw Parsons in. At the other end, if one of the sophomores does step up and the Howard/Asik thing works well, then we are in a very strong negotiating position because we don't have to trade at all, and because we could include our power forward instead of Asik or instead of Parsons to get the deal done if we still wanted it. In between, if the sophomore works out but Asik doesn't or vice-versa we might not have better assets to trade than before, but at least the urgency isn't there.

Drummond is the ultimate basketball tease. Looks great on video. Looks like a man among boys in the games. Stat sheet stacks up blocks and boards, etc.

But I'm telling you....if this manchild continues to hit free throws at below 40% he will wind up out of the league.

Every player winds up out of the league eventually.

He'd only be getting to the line like what, 5 times with normal minutes?

No way Parsons will be traded IF anything it will more than likely be a Lin, Asik, either TJones or DMo for Aldridge.

If Rockets can trade their 2014 1st rrd pick then I like the Rockets package more with the hype of the 2014 draft. I think a package of Asik,Beverly, and 2014 1st and Dmo can entice Portland .

this smells like a mini dwightmare for Portland with continued speculation about LMA up until the trade deadline. they're getting out ahead of this early by putting out this info - they're getting initial trade proposals from teams now and they're hoping to create a bidding war.

you never know with morey, but I think we roll with Asik and Lin until the trade deadline. If we're dominating and looking like a legit contender with good team chemistry then obviously you don't rock that boat. I think we could be a much better version of the Magic team that made it to the finals.

but if Asik and Dwight aren't able to share the court for any amount of time and Lin's playing mediocre, then I think we look for a 3 team trade to land LMA. We've been saying that if we trade Asik, we've got to get a quality backup Center. If we get Camby for the minimum and he looks solid for 15 mins/game that need is reduced and we have more flexibility.

... Read up the chain. The topic was started when someone asked why Detroit would take Asik over Drummond. So ironic you're telling me to "l2read".

In no way is Parsons untouchable in a deal for Aldridge. Not even close to untouchable.

(If) we are going to be wheeling and dealing soon for Aldridge I think a
package of these players would definitely get consideration.

    Asik..................very good starting center....27yrs old
    TJones.............#18pick 2013'......SF/PF......21yrs old
    Beverley.............very good backup pg.........25yrs old
    Several future picks

If three or more teams are involved I think both Asik and Lin come into play.
The reason I don't include Lin in the Portland scenario is Lillard isn't going anywhere!

The more I think about it a Asik/Jones/Beverly/2014 1st pick/2 rd pick is a fair deal for Aldridge

Not really sure this will be as widely reported, and the bidding war for LMA should be much more transparent than smaller deals to dissect. I mean, we are talking about large assets here that everyone knows who has what.

Also, keep in mind that no big market team in LA or NY will have the ability to trade for LMA, and LMA will only request a trade if he's going to a clear contending team. Forget Brookyn, the Knick, Lakers, and the Clippers... its almost impossible for those teams to acquire him, nor would they have the fit for him as well.

From an asset standpoint, its hard to see LMA not being traded to either-

    -Chicago
    -Houston

With these teams following up as wildcards-

    -OKC
    -Golden State
    -Pelicans

    .......................................................................

-Chicago- They would seem like the front-runner here from everything we hear in the media, but I see one big significant challenge in front of them to make this deal happen.

-They would have to choose between moving Noah in the deal going back to Portland(or another team in 3-way) or amnesty Boozer.

Chicago has a really nice asset in the Charlotte 2014 first rounder (with some lottery protection next year, but UN-PROTECTED in 2016) that trumps any draft pick considerations the Rockets could give Portland.

You'd have to think that from a outgoing player standpoint, Chicago would have to move Taj Gibson, Mirotic (Europrospect), & maybe Jimmy Butler in the deal.

-Houston- We all know what they have- Asik (who might have to go to a third team to bring back talent to Portland), some young prospects in Jones, Motiejunas, and ALL of the Rockets future first round picks.

They probably have the second best package to be made, and maybe the best package if either Portland loves Asik as their future center moving forward, or the Rockets can get significant young talent/assets to Portland in a 3-team deal with Asik going that way.

-OKC- Would have to most likely attach Perkins to the deal which is why I think they have a slightly less probability of getting in the mix. Also, I dont see them moving Ibaka in the deal as well.

OKC has all of their future first rounder, and the Dallas pick that Houston traded in the Harden deal. The un-protection in 2018 could be enticing although that's quite far away.

They also have some young talent to package in the deal as well with Lamb, Jones, Adams.

Golden State- Have the expiring contract of Bogut & Klay Thompson to offer. If Thompson is in the conversation, then Portland is probably in. If not, no-way. GS has almost none of their upcoming picks available in the salary dump they engaged in to get the capspace to sign Igoudala.

Pelicans- Ahhhh... the Pelicans. They have the best asset here to give up if they want to really take the leap into playoff team. That asset is the former #1 pick Anthony Davis. If LMA like the core they have built around Holiday/Gordon/Evans, and Dell Demps/ownership can stand sending out their former #1 pick, the Pel's could surprise people in get in the conversation.

    ..................

With LMA wanting to go to a contending team, and weighing the assets, I think its between Houston and Chicago to get a deal done by the trade deadline.

Then we do not do the deal! Parsons is a borderline allstar and Omer is top 5 center in the league. Parsons shot over 48% from the feild last year and while LA is a better overall player no doubt, he's not that much better. We can trade Omer for Milsap, Anderson keep Parsons and call it a day then.

Its either Noah goes in the trade or Boozer is amnestied. The Bulls are over the lux tax, and would need to match dollar for dollar to make the deal happen.

Not too many ways around it... and I seriously doubt Portland wants anything to do with Luol Deng.

The easiest way for Chicago to get LMA is to trade-

Noah, Gibson, picks, & maybe Mirotic rights for LMA & Thomas Robinson(or similar salary filler)

    or

You Amnesty Boozer first & then have a package going to Portland centered around Gibson, salary filler, and picks & Mirotic rights.
