At most that was one fail -- and it was just a quick example.

    So let's try Billups.

You can't teach agility like this, ladies and gentlemen. There is only one cheetah around here.

Rushing to come back from an injury is unwise. What happens if kobe reinjures himself in practice or preseason game?

Not a bad example. His comeback this year led to other injuries that limited him to only 20 games.

The best two other NBA examples include Dominique Wilkins and Elton Brand.

Wilkins actually did have a couple of high level seasons left... and is probably the best case scenario for what Kobe could be when he comes back. Then again, Nique was only 32 at the time of his injury, and he'd only been in the league 10 years.

Couldn't agree more... If he comes back in the preseason, he is as delusional as the Lakers fan base that thinks they're betrer off sans dawight. What a joke... And I like kobe ad a player, but you've got to be kidding me... Money where my mouth is... If kobe comes back in the preseason and goes onto make ANY of the all Nba teams, and I will gladly donate $50 to the tip jar.

Partial tears and full tears aren't the same, plenty of people have come back from partial tears with good recoveries (such as Nique), full tears not so much....

On the plus side for Kobe, the medical techniques are a lot more precise these days due to technology, so getting his achilles repair "just right" is probably a much higher likelihood than in times gone.

This Dwight Howard thing has really driven some owners to plain insanity.

If Kobe comes back any earlier than Christmas day, he needs to pee in a cup or get a blood test.

Was his achilles really fully ruptured to begin with?

Doctors say it was a complete tear.

The way he walked off the court on the night of the injury, didn't look like a complete achilles tear to me.

Here's what a fully ruptured achilles looks like.

    Warning: Video is graphic

I think that's just a testament to who he is and his pain tolerance. He shouldn't have been able to make those two free throws.

I'm no doctor but people with a completely torn achilles won't be able to walk nor put any weight off the leg like what Kobe did. I'm purely speculating here but would it be possible that Kobe wanted the press release for it to be worse than it really was? So by the time he comes back way ahead of schedule for someone who just had a fully ruptured achilles, he will be praised by everyone for being a super human competitor.

Signs that it was just a partial tear..

    1. He walks on his own weight and power off the court
    2. He's said to be "way ahead of schedule"
    3. His ego

"A full rupture splits the Achilles tendon so that it no longer connects the calf muscle to the heel: the calf muscle can no longer cause the foot to “push off”, so normal walking is impossible. If it is a full rupture, then lightly pinching the Achilles tendon with the forefinger and thumb will reveal a gap in the Achilles tendon."

    Wow...you may be onto something.

That this is just exaggerated. I mean, I'm sure Nike will be all in on it too pushing commercials about it and what not.
