It is untamable, all you can do is learn to live with it. I think that extends so far beyond basketball and clutch fans in so many ways.

"At least Lin goes out there and plays his heart out. I can stand behind any player that leaves everything out on the court."

Great point. Attitude and effects are the key elements for player's success. And are all we asking for as fans.

It's just so frustrating for long time Rockets fans like myself who stuck with this team through thick and thin, mostly filled with heartbreaks year after year since 1996. Now, we finally caught a break last off-season and this summer as well. Something great is finally happening to our beloved franchise and yet what do you see on our threads? Yes, people still arguing non stop about Lin.

We finally get to have an awesome roster/foundation that's ready to compete with still a ton of options and ability to improve upon in the future but some are still too preoccupied, wasting their time bickering about one player.

It's true, there are fans who are mainly rooting for Lin alone and they can be annoying to you but as reponsible Rockets fans and CF members, why can't we simple ignore them? It has to start within us. Let the mods do their job and stop feeding the trolls. Most of our threads are being sidetracked into Lin arguments and it's truly disheartening. Just stop replying to them, period.

Kind of a side point, but I used to loath the way Kevin Martin plays. But when he donned a Rockets jersey, I had to bring myself to support him. It was tough, but I did it. Lin is a much more likeable guy than KMart. As a fan, I think it is essential to support Rocket players that give their all on the court, and Lin definitely falls under that category.

What is key is differentiating between critiquing his game and then just hating on him. Most critique, few truly hate.

    By what, being alive? lol

    GTFOH!

Lin did nothing but play ball.

He isn't consistent, which is his issue, but to say he deserves the venom from the hometowners is stupid a fock!

I see what you're trying to accomplish with this thread. But with no disrespect, you're just adding fuel to the fire and as a veteran on clutch fans you should know better. There are more threads on this site about Lin than any other player but he's no where near being the best player on this team and that's ridiculous... And you just started another thread about him.

If you're tired of all the bickering, stop contributing. It will all play itself out on the court. Just like it did with Harden because everyone wasn't on board when Morey traded for him.

I disagree. Adding fuel to the fire is posting criticisms regarding the player. You never see me bashing Jeremy Lin or any other player on our team. Even when a player or the team have their off nights, you will see my posting the positives rather than dwell on the bad.

I created this thread in good faith with one goal and that's to put an end to the nonsense arguments, unite everyone, and to simply enjoy the sport of basketball. It may seem idealistic and futile but that won't stop me from trying.

A LOT of Rockets fans hated on Kenny Smith back in the day. A Lot. Called him weak, saying Derek Harper dominated him, useless point guard, Sam Cassell WAY WAY better, etc. Then game 7 happens in 1994, and games in Utah, Phoenix, and Orlando in 1995, and he becomes a Rockets legend. GREAT POINT GUARD! becomes the tag for Mr. Smith. Not even close. Kenny Smith was a VERY average point guard who played a critical role in 2 championship runs. If Lin is equal to him, which I think he is at this point in terms of regular season output (although they bring different things to the table), we're fine.

    Love him or hate him?

I love him, but does that mean I have to support him now??

Exactly- he's a damn good basketball player. With Harden a year better, Howard being his old (well, close to old) self, Parsons a year better, and Lin a year better, this team is definitely positioned for a good run.

the fact that you base your likings of a player on a fan blog makes you a loser.
