I am glad today that OJ started his bronco chase because i changed the satellite to a live feed and listened to gene. We never went back to walton and co., and I still get chills when I hear "How sweet it is?" It gives me goosebumps now thinking about it, and my wife probably thinks it's because im experiencing pron. In a way.

i was graduating during the '94-95 finals. For those of you who don't know, before ipods and internet radio we had discman radios. I'm not sure if any of my classmates were paying attention during the commencement ceremony as everyone was whispering trying to get an update on the score.

I'll never forget riding down Richmond after winning it. surreal.

OT from hoops, but Carl Herrera had his own salsa band too.

Oh how I would want to experience all this as I am WAY older to fully recognise what happened in 94 and 95.

What changed everything, to me, was game 3 against Phoenix in 1994. It changed me as a fan, which is why I will never, ever stop watching my team, even if they choke horribly.

I was so, so elated when the Nuggets knocked out the Sonics - seriously jumping up and down screaming because I KNEW we had a definite chance. Then, at the end of game 2 against Phoenix, I have to admit I welled up a little. Really, that was it. You're not coming back in a series when you lose the first 2 at home. I mean, those are just ridiculous odds. It was the worst feeling I ever had as a sports fan (well, Buffalo Bills and Frank Reich was close, but I was always a basketball fan first). Even more than Stockton's b/c at that point, we had at least already won 2 'ships.

So disgusted, I said I just couldn't take watching them anymore. So, my friend and I went to this place called Savage's near Bissonett, I think, before Game 3 because I didn't think they had a TV. And sure enough, they did, and they had the Rockets on. I reluctantly agreed to watch, and I think we were down by 12 at halftime. Just got up and told him I couldn't stay there, that we needed to find a bar without a TV (like the Brewery Tap on Franklin).

So, we go to this place called Kenneally's. And the owner brought in his little 13" TV. I actually got a table away from the bar where the TV was. And then, I kept hearing Maxwell, Maxwell, Maxwell. People yelling and screaming. Still didn't want to watch, but I figured what the heck. Maxwell did it. He took over the game. For a stretch, he was unstoppable. And that was it. I never gave up on them after that.

There is no doubt Hakeem is the #1 reason we went as far as we did, both years. And Vernon was not there for the #2 championship, as far as I'm concerned, after he went AWOL at the beginning of the playoffs. But without 1994 Phoenix-Houston Game 3 Vernon Maxwell, there is no first championship. I am thoroughly convinced that without Game 3, Q3 and Q4 Vernon Maxwell, we lose that game, and no matter how great we were, we wouldn't come back from a 3-0 deficit.

So, that game changed me as a fan. And whenever you want to get on Tinman's case about his passion for Vernon Maxwell, just remember there is a bit of a reason for it for anyone that watched the second half of that game.

I can still remember the surreal moment when Nick Anderson missed those 4 free throws in a row. He only had to drain 1 to seal the win. He missed the first 2 and then got fouled again me and my friends looked at each other and all of saying no way he will miss these 2. He did.

We were still down by 3 though and of course Kenny Smith going down and draining that 3 and the feelings and screamings and all was awesome. Overtime.

Hakeem then of course took over in OT and got us that win. It was no contest after that. We swept Orlando. Still how does a good free throw NBA player miss 4 FT's in a row?

    Yes

I was disgusted when we went down 0-2. I remember Rudy making that prediction and him saying never underestimate the heart of a Champion. and me shaking my head. I was pissed. Of course Rudy was right. I went to the Basketball Hall of Fame a few years ago and they had a place where they had the top predictions and all and of course the number 1 was Rudy T's. Made me smile.

I have the shirt somewhere, too, but I would have to dig it out.

Glory days, man. Glory days. Might be more of those to come soon.

When I first moved to Denver, I got seats right behind the Nugs bench for a game against the Bucks, I think. So of course, I was rockin the Ketchup & Mustard warm-up. I saw Scottie on the Nugs bench, he was an assistant coach at the time. After a timeout, I yelled "Energizer Bunny" at him. He looked up & got this goofy ass smile on his face, like he flashed back to his glory days. Talked to him for a quick minute, genuinely good dude.

I remember my father jumping up and down after we beak the Knicks game 7. I had never known the man to be a basketball fan, but the whole city was so hardcore about the Rockets at the time, the old man had no choice but to fall in line. Till this day, through all our differences, we both still crack open a beer and kickback whenever the Rockets play. Its one of the only things that we have that is truly between us (Mom and baby bro root for the Celtics, don't ask)!!!

the only good thing about jester east was it was a easy walk to the rec center, stadium, and the outdoor courts back in the day.

gregory was a crap hole back in the day. now these kids are living large like it's a club med resort or the bellagio hotel.
