Does Aldridge even want to come to Houston? The rumors saying that he did was from before Dwight Howard if I remember correctly. Not sure he is looking forward to becoming third banana.

Also, if you are not giving Lamarcus most of your post touches, how useful is he?

    CORRECTION

    • Parsons won't be dealt.

    In that unlikely scenario:
    1st Option - Harden
    2nd Option - Howard
    3rd Option - Aldridge
    4th Option - Lin

    This....

Because Parsons' contract is so low, and we hold his Bird rights. So we can deal Asik/Lin/picks for a pretty good player AND go over the cap to resign Parsons.

Makes no sense for Howard to be the 1st option over Harden. Howard can't even score outside the paint or hit free throws.

Bet he is going to the Lakers for Gasol and fillers...,

Morey must jump on this ASAP even if it means trading Parsons.

If I were the Rockets my offer for LaMarcus Aldridge would be

    Omer Asik + (Portland's choice of Terrence Jones OR Donatas Motiejunas) + Hou 2014 1st + Hou 2016 1st.

Parsons is off-limits in this scenario.

That might not be the best offer Portland gets, but with LMA being a UFA in 2015 you have to wonder just how many assets another team is willing to give up if they don't know if LMA will re-sign with them.

Portland does have a habit of holding onto their assets until the sell-by date. But Kevin Pritchard (asset horder) is no longer there so that might change.

I agree that it is more likely that a Trade Deadline deal will happen with someone rather than now. Especially if Portland's W/L record isn't that great with respect to making the playoffs.

Where there is smoke there is fire...and I think LMA is available and becomes even more available as his 2015 UFA status gets closer if LMA does not have any intention of re-signing with Portland.

aldridge is good.. but not good enough to give up asik and parsons..

heck not even good enough to give up our entire PG rotation as others have suggested..

asik + filler/decent 1st round picks is all I would give

I would be fine with moving Lin in that deal. But looking at it from Portland's perspective, they probably would not want him considering the salary and their current young players at that position, Lillard, McColumn etc. Lin could be moved if a 3rd team got involved where that 3rd team sent Portland back some asset. Maybe Detroit?

It would have to be Asik, D-Mo, Lin, etc for Aldridge..

But why would they want Lin when they have Lilliard? I mean yeah you can make Lin a 6th man but how does this make your team better?

Unless they are sold on Asik and D-Mo.

It would have to be a 3-team trade the more i think about it.

You don't have to include Lin in an Aldridge trade. In terms of "matching salary" you can get it done just with Asik+Jones or Asik+D-Mo.

I totally agree with your post! The only way I would deal Parsons would be in a
Kevin Love trade, which I don't think will happen either.

Having a post scoring option is a must. Can you remember the last NBA team that won a championship without a post scoring option (the only efficient mid range jumper).

Elite teams in the NBA have the best defensive wings in the NBA who Harden and Parsons will struggle against.

    Pacers - George/Granger
    Warriors - Iguadola
    Spurs - Green/Leonard
    Bulls - Butler/Deng
    Thunder - Sefolosha/Durant
    Knicks - Shumpert
    Heat - Wade/LeBron

The only team on that list that I see Alridge struggling against is the Thunder. Only 2 good NBA teams don't great great defensive wings and they are the Clippers and the Nets.

First off the Rockets can't trade the 2014 1st rd because they traded away their 2013. Best package to trade fo LA would be Asik,t jones or donuts and the 2014 NY pick Rockets 2015 1st rd and 2017 1st rd. Those 1st rders are basically useless for a championship team like the Rockets. Plus Rockets keep their 2014 NY1st rounder. Lin problaly doesn't make sense for Portland.

If not here, I'd only hope that he gets traded into the Eastern Conference.

It really isn't Parsons or Aldridge. It is Parsons AND another near max player or Aldridge.

Kind of funny how everyone here is discussing whether Houston should offer trade proposals that have no chance of getting accepted by the Blazers at all, at least until, say, a year from now when Aldridge leaving is a more realistic threat.
