I knew he was a good rebounder but never realized he shot so well from 3. Looking at his stats (45% 3pt%, 9.5 Rb/36), he's probably a better fit chemistry wise than Love/Aldridge. Love and Aldridge would cost twice as much and there just aren't enough possessions to keep 3 superstars happy. Someone would have to make a sacrifice ala Bosh in Miami and I don't see LMA/Love doing that.
His contract is one year two long and would take us out of the Love/Rondo/LMA sweepstakes of 2015. I think that eliminates the possibility he will be a Rocket.
Disagree. Love gives up a lot on defense. He leaks off his man a lot on defense to get that defensive board, which often leads to open shots. He's a very average-ish defender, and I honestly don't think we "need" more 3 point shooting or rebounding skills w/ our current team. I'd rather cover up holes and weaknesses in our team than continue to overload on what we're already very good at.
His contract is very reasonable for what he produces. If he can take us over the top why not now instead of wasting 2 years over a chance for a 3rd superstar. It is not even a given Rox will have cap room to sign another max player in 2015.
As if Aldridge and Ilyasova are way better defenders. Every player have their own defeciencies. We already have enough rebounding and 3-pt shooting? Kevin Love possesses talent and intangibles other PF's don't. ELITE rebounder on BOTH ends, incredible motor, knock down shooter and he is clutch.
If you really thought you had a chance there you could always move Ilyasova, assuming he performs equivalent. He's getting paid just under $8 million a year but giving you 18+ PER the last two years. For comparison purposes, Asik, who effectively has a similar contract (though being paid out differently), and who understandably is underrated from a PER perspective since his strenght is more defense, nonetheless gave you a 14.9 PER. Ilyasova had a higher win share, and is younger. And he can shoot free throws! If you can get Ilyasova for an Asik/DMo/pick type package I think you have to do that. He's not Alrdidge, or Love or Horford, but he's very very solid, young, gets paid less, and might be attainable without giving up Lin, and keep you in a cap situation where you don't have to worry about luxury tax as much once Chandler comes due for his huge raise.
Aldridge is an overall better basketball player than Love. Practically unguardable in the post. Love doesn't have an incredible motor. He gets a lot of rebounds but i wouldn't call his motor incredible
Rondo would be a horrible fit for our team. He needs the ball in his hands to facilitate and he makes Lin look like Ray Allen with his jumpers. We already have our own Rondo light for peanuts/year in Beverley.
You have to have a great motor(among other factors) to lead the NBA in rebounding. Love vs Aldridge is debatable. I won't mind having either of them, that's for sure.
I would love to see a Lin for Ilyasova trade, personally. The salaries match, the Bucks need a PG and we need a PF who can rebound and space the floor. The only thing that would make Ilyasova more of a perfect fit would be better defense in the post. Ilyasova hit the 3 at 46.4%(!) on the pick-n-pop last year, and 41.5% on spot-ups. That's incredible for a PF. His TRB% was 13.9%, vs. Aldridge's 14%. I think he would fit wonderfully here.
Who averages 20ppg & 15rpg or 26ppg & 13rpg these days while shooting close to 40% from 3's? Those numbers are just insane. Name 1 player in the past decade or so who had similar or better averages.
I like Ilyasova's game, he'd be nice here. Not often you find a guy with his skill set that rebounds and plays defense.
I don't like Beverley logging in starting pg minutes. His efficiency and effort, especially on defense, drops off significantly. Plus, he's a worse shooter than Lin.
Those are Kevin Love's numbers. David Lee never averaged more than 11.7 rpg and he does not shoot 3's.
You just restated the things he's good at when my comment was about his weaknesses and how I don't think he fits our team the BEST. He fits it great and he's a great player, but he wouldn't top my list. I don't recall in my post me saying Aldridge or Ilyasova are better. I do believe Aldridge is better, but that's beside the point. And yes, we sort of have enough 3 pt shooting and rebounding. I would have preferred Josh Smith for his perimeter defense, which is really what we need in a 3-4 player (for the flexibility).
Why is KLove in any convo (unless as one to compare against)? That fellow is only coming to TheToyShop's visitor's dressing room. I wonder - - I wonder, wonder, wonder - - what the FO really thinks in their analyses and projections about TJ's and/or DMo's place on this team? I wanted Brand to help mentor their progress and fill a solid 24mpg line 4/5 for this team. I would hate to gut the potential moves of this team until I knew that either/both 2nd year 4s were just not going to be + additions on the floor. If LMA is brought in it has to be because it is believed he can be the final piece to playing deep in June.
