Is Doc having fun or is he hinting at something here?

Let's cut to the chase, if LMA really wants to be a Rocket then he will end up being traded here. Stars always get what they want, and even though LMA has two years left on his contract, he still has leverage. He can still make a stink. It's up to him.

Aldridge has to be traded by this trade deadline if the Blazers want full value. On the last year of his contract they lose a lot of leverage. Aldridge would then have to agree to a extend & trade if not he becomes an unrestricted half season rental.

They probably didn't expect Aldridge's agent to go full nuclear with I want out leaks to the press either. Before it got that far I had my doubts, now I'm thinking it's going to become increasingly untenable, because you don't go full nuclear like he just did and then let it go.

Considering who we just signed, this probably seems superfluous, but the star players know no matter how much of a jack ass they are, they can still land on their feet where they want, it's a seller's market for these guys, the team though will end up dragged through the mud and screwed by the power agents, such is the life of being a buyer in a seller's market (this is why it's often come out regarding CP3 that if things go pear shaped he feels he can just force his way out).

Give me the ultimate stretch four in Ryan Anderson on a Lin-type contract on this team instead. That dude scares the heck out of me whenever he shoots 3's. Our team would be almost impossible to defend with that type of a 3-pt sniper. Oh, he's a decent rebounder as well.

Yep. Better floor spacer at $7mil less. You can get another rock solid role player with that $7mil.

Nahhh Anderson doesn't scream Championship if he's added. Aldridge does

yah I agree...we have parsons if we need a 3pt shooter at the 4 just slide him or casspi over.

Although I like that idea with howard...ryan anderson would just not be much of an upgrade for this team. We have players that can do what he does...maybe not as well, but that would just be a luxuary.

Good point, so what if this trade were to happen:

    Rockets receives: LMA
    Orlando receives: Omer Asik
Portland receives: TJones, H.Turkoglu (1 yr expiring), 2 1st Rd picks from Houston, 2 1st Rd picks from Orlando

Rockets do it because they feel that Asik, TJones and 2 1st Rd picks for LMA is worth it to make them the favorites to win it all this year.

Orlando does it because they feel that getting Asik and getting rid of Turkoglu is worth giving up 2 1st round picks.

Portland does it because LMA ultimately wants out, they want to rebuild, they don't take on any long term salary, they get a great upcoming player in TJones and they get 4 1st Rd picks!

Salaries work in the current ESPN trade machine.

Although I hate giving up Asik and TJones, our lineup of:

    Lin, Beverley, Canaan
    Harden, Garcia, Young
    Parsons, (Mike Miller ?), Caspi,
    LMA, DMo, Covington
    Howard, (Camby ?), Smith

Make us the instant favorite for the championship in my opinion.

I don't think Orlando would give up 2 1st rd picks for Omer. They have a center there that they like. Omer would walk as a FA to go somewhere he could start. Also, Portland isn't trying to rebuild right now. They are trying to win.

Anderson doesn't scream championship without Harden and Howard. But with them, given his deep range and cheaper contract, it does.

There is more to the game than just 3 point shooting. Anderson can't play defense. Which would put more pressure on Howard. Anderson on this rocket team is still not better than the Heat. Bosh would kill him

And hey, don't get me wrong, i would love to have LMA on this team (although i prefer Kevin Love but that's another story) but i'm just saying that Ryan Anderson plus adding another solid role player with that $7mil we will be saving to acquire his services will also make us just as or even more formidable with rpster we have now.

Yeah, I don't know how I forgot about Vucevic, but insert any team that needs a center, has an expiring contract to get rid of and would be willing to give up two first round picks. I don't know who that would be, but I would think there is someone out there...just my opinion.

Whether Portland is rebuilding or not, debatable, they know that they will lose LMA, so they will look to get rid of him as soon as possible because they know he won't resign and his value will go down the closer he gets to UFA.

It saves Les money, it doesn't give us any cap space.

So Lin is tied up in this. It would take a 3rd team...no way Portland takes him.

    HOU out: Asik, Lin, DMo, 2014 & 2016 1st
    HOU in: LMA

    POR out: LMA
    POR in: Greg Monroe, HOU 2014 & 2016 1st

    GSW out: Harrison Barnes
    GSW in: Asik

    DET out: Greg Monroe
DET in: Lin, DMo, Harrison Barnes

    Trade machine says this works.

HOU gets it's 3rd star, and can keep Parsons and TJones.

Portland gets a young, proven center that lines up well with their youth movement. Also get Houston's 2014 and 2016 picks (likely #29 or #30).

GSW removes their redundancy with Harrison Barnes/Andre Igoudala. Bogut is on his last leg, and they know it. Asik and Iggy give them a good defensive pair to go with Currry and Thompson. Asik is also a great fit next to David Lee.

Detroit gets a semi-solution at PG in Lin, a PF in DMo that goes very well with Drummond/JSmith, and a SF of the future in Harrison Barnes.
