Can't forget the ubiquitous third team that makes trades happen.

Lin, Asik and picks would be the most likely package the Rockets would offer and that is nowhere near as enticing as draft picks, especially 2014 first rounders plus young promising players. I think your'e right about Cleveland, especially if they find success with Bynum next season. They would be in win-now mode.

We all love parsons but lets be real here, if we can get Aldridge for him you do it. The only problem with trading parsons is he was a big key in getting Howard, but its time to see how heartless morey is when it comes to his assets.

Im sure morey would try hard to get Aldridge without giving up Parsons, but if he had to Parsons should be gone along with Asik, picks and one of our young PF's.

LMA is not not worth Parsons and Asik plus picks ... He hasn't shown anything in his career on a good team and hes injury prone. Like i said before... look at Milwaukee for your PF needs ... They want to start Henson and they have Sanders and illyasova, along with Joel Pryzbilla, zaza and ekpe ... thats too many bigs ... they would make a vialble trade where we can get a PF and a backup C for Asik and maybe a pick.

thats a BAD idea. You give up a potential star with a very friendly contract and open a big hole at your current and future of your SF position for a ball demanding injury prone PF who is very expensive and has not proven a thing on a good team. Morey would be an idiot to make that trade.

    Lillard
    Batum/Mathews
    Parsons
    Jones
    Asik/Leonard

They would be very good defensively and rebound well. Scoring would rest on their backcourt where all their money is invested.

People need to realize having 3 Superstars on a team leads to one of them taking a back seat and if the 3rd superstars ego or attitude gets in the way of the betterment of the team, it leads to bad chemistry and issues in the locker room. LMA is not chris bosh or a really young rondo or ray allen type of guy. He will not assimilate that easily.

Is he worth getting at the right price. Sure... if you can land him with Asik and complimentary pieces. but not for Asik, Parsons and Picks. This is an awful idea.

how about we play a season with what we've got and THEN see where we need to upgrade. Im personally excited about a our team as is, and I think the D-mo/jones experiment at the 4 with Asik getting 10-15 min a game as a 4 will work out very well. Sure aldridge would be great, but Im not giving up the house to get him and I know Morey won't either.

The one that piques my interest is next summer, if LeBron is set on chasing jordan for those 6 rings, I really don't think Miami is where he's going. Wade is just awful now, and Bosh had 0 points in game 7, he just doesn't seem as dominant as he once was. I don't think Lebron joins Kobe in LA, and I really don't think he goes back to Cleveland after all that bad blood Dan Gilbert caused. Along with Kyrie,Bynum,Waiters,Bennett,Tristan,Varejao the Cavs would be the class of the league if they added Bron but I just don't see it.

So I really in my heart believe Houston with Dwight and James might be the best situation in the league along with OKC or Chicago for Lebron if he's seeking a run at jordan. 1 in 3 is enough of a shot for me to keep that avenue open and not trade for anyone for 1 year.

if you think giving up those 3 for LMA will make us a better team for now or the future ... you don't know much about NBA cap or team chemistry. Along with that your getting rid of 2 players that have a chance of becoming viable stars in this league at some point.

2 and a half stars is the magic formula right now. If we have to give up an arm and leg for LMA, I'm against it.

I want to see how T. Jones and Motiejunas do this season. It sounds like they have improved dramatically and we could have the answer to our 4 spot problem in house.

They aren't getting a great deal just because LMA is a good player. Historically, stars never get their teams equal value in trades, especially when the trade is at the player's request and the team has to accommodate their preferences. Melo and Dwight are perennial all-NBA superstars and they only got their teams role players. It wasn't because their teams weren't patient, either. The Melo trade took half a season and Dwight's deal took over a year.

I'm sure teams with lots of assets like Cleveland are interested, but eventually LMA is going to have a list. If Cleveland isn't on that list, they aren't breaking the bank for him. If Portland is too patient, the eventual trade will be on LMA's terms and not theirs.

Aldridge is no doubt a valuable player, but here are my questions:

    1. Does Dwight Howard want Aldridge here? His big complaint in Los Angeles was not getting enough touches in the post-- having to share these with Gasol. Is Aldridge/Howard going to have the same issue?

    2. If you are not having Aldridge be a primary post-offense option, then what does he do for you? Spot up for 20-foot jumpers (which he did probably way too often in Portland)? Isn't it kind of a waste? Wouldn't you better off, at least offensively, just putting an elite 3-point shooter at the 4 instead?

I wouldn't be too broken up about "missing out" on Aldridge if somebody else wants to pay close to "full price" for him. It's not like there won't be other disgruntled star players, and just talented players in general, available in the league over the next few seasons.

    [8.3 (Omer) + 1.55 (Jones) + .926 (Parsons)] x 1.5 = $16.17 million

Aldridge makes $14.1 million. Am I missing something? It is will within the $5 million range too. I guess "you don't know much about NBA cap".

"2 players that have a chance of becoming viable stars in this league at some point" for one established all-star. The Rockets would be getting the best player in the deal. I never said the Rockets should do it, but Aldridge is a legit 6'11" and he can ball. You have to consider it while Parsons and Asik have high trade value.

As for team chemistry, Aldrige would be the perfect PF to pair next to Howard* and Harden. He can shoot, post up and score (something the Rockets still need), block shots, pass and rebound.

    Stars come first.

Asik and Parsons are just solid starters, Jones/motiejunas and future picks are just prospects. Aldridge is a allstar, a allstar that plays our weakest position and fits perfectly with our other two stars.

We are in win now mode, im sure morey wouldn't scrap a deal for a allstar because he's looking forward to seeing if one of our young players can grow into a starter. I also don't think he'd scrap it for Asik when we Howard. Loosings parsons hurts, but again you have to give something to get something and in this case you get a allstar. Plus parsons is probably going to get overpaid next year anyways.

I would normally support this type of trade but considering Parsons contract and upside I would probably pass. Championship caliber teams need players like Parsons. I know Aldridge is a beast but at this point giving up Asik and Parsons (2 great players on superb contracts) is not worth it.

    It sure is tempting though.....

I'm a LMA guy,but I think the rox should stay pat for a yr. I think it might be better to upgrqde the pg than trying to upgrade the 4. I like the compliment of either Jones( who I prefer) or Do-nuts next to D12.

I'm on the other side of this.

I think LMA is a potential risk.

With Josh Smith you can sell to him possibly of being this Rodman type of player.

With LMA? He's going to need touches, if you aren't giving him touches then you aren't using him correctly. Now figure in that offensively he's a better player than Dwight (but Dwight much much better all around) then you have a situation where LMA may get the ball more than Dwight. That is not going to play out well, not With Dwight's ego.

I think Dwight will be willing to share the load with Harden...but bringing in other guys to have him share the load with? I don't think he's going to be up for that.

But personally...right now...right now I feel this team can win the west. Not saying it's going to be easy (it never will be easy I presume) but I feel like a change is not needed until we see evidence that this team needs to get better.

They are pretty strong at all positions, weak at PF but considering that we can play DMo,Jones, Smith at PF...it may not be that bad. We can also go small too and just play D12 at center and surround him with centers.

I'm taking a trade for a stretch 4 like Ilyasova or Anderson over LMA just because of fit.

yes your missing something . Aldridge is 1 player. We have 3 SOLID servicable rotation players for $16 mil vs 1 "3rd" star for $14. It hurts our rotation and binds us in cap flexibility because you will add 2 players at veteran's minimum to replace the 2 other rotation players.

Asik will get traded at some point in the near future regardless and should bring a PF thats good enough to where NEW PF + Parsons combined will ball better and FIT better on this team and combined will cost less than what Aldridge will cost you and again its 2 bodies .. not 1.

He is not the perfect fit. An Ibaka is the perfect fit. Someone who is a really strong defender and that can cover Howards back as he goes for blocking shots. Ill be happy to give up parsons and Asik for Ibaka. Aldridge demands touches and post ups and is most effective in the paint. His efficiency from mid range is not David West, Karl Malone, or KG like. If it was, I would approve. LMA is a defensive liability also.

I like LMa but again only at the right price. No to Asik, Parsons and Picks or Jones. Too high a price.
